Power supply trips house fuse?!?

Hi All, looking for a bit of help please. Just build up my new rig, and all looked to be going ok until I plugged it in!! Basically I plugged the thing in and when I hit the on/off switch on the psu it trips the fuse in the entire house.

To be honest I have no idea if I have done something wrong, I have a faulty component or what. I am only praying to the lord I haven't f*ed my other stuff up.

Any ideas, tips, hints or things I can try out would be very much appreciated.

Build is;

i7 4770k
Gigabyte Z87X-OC Intel Z87
KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 EX OC 4096MB
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 850W V2 High Performance '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Corsair Carbide 540 High Airflow ATX Cube Case
TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8GB (2x4GB)

Direct short or there is a leak to earth which your RCD is not liking. Try a different kettle lead to the PSU, then you will have to try a different PSU.

Plug your system directly into one of these types of plugs to stop it tripping the rest of the circuits if you have one:

No hotlinking. Thank you.

Have you done something basic like placed a motherboard standoff in the wrong hole of the case motherboard tray which doesn't correspond to a hole on the PCB thus shorting it out?.

Build the basic system up with the board on some cardboard, plug the screen into the motherboard directly and remove the GFX card for now.

Don't need any drives connected to get a display and enter the BIOS.

@Th0nt..host the image via imageshack or something..no hotlinking please.

You have a fault or a short circuit somewhere,I would builds outside your case on cardboard or wooden surface, then see what happens

All my PC's are on circuit breakers, I do this as many run 24/7 and it's just piece of mind.

Another thing i've found with the circuit breakers. I had a desk fan once that was generating 'dirty current' into the ring main. It was tripping out the circuit breakers on the PC's, this was a good thing as it was protecting the PC's and alerting me to the issue with the fan.

Has to be a short somewhere in the case check all the connections inside the PC and check the ATX backplate of the mother board to ensure that it is not catching anything.

Ok! So after a lot of playing an fiddling around I have managed to get this working, and recreate the issues all the time. It seems that when I plug the power supply in and turn it on it trips the fuse, but if I leave it plugged in (which I did in error) and go and reset the fuse under the stairs it will stay on and not trip again, and I can turn the PC on. Could this be an issue with the houses wiring?

A second issue now that I have come across though is the PC seems to freeze for a couple of seconds every few minutes or so. I am finding it hard to figure out if this is just a keyboard/mouse freeze or something else though, as if doesn't seem to affect video of music playback. I have watched full you tube videos, and TV shows without them freezing, while getting the freezing issues with my keyboard and mouse (keys stick if I am typing, or movement continues if I am in a game) then all control will come back straight away.

I have tried a fresh install of Widows twice, and I have experience the freezing issues (even during the installation process).

I know that isn't a lot of info to try and diagnose the problem, but if you could offer suggestions on who info is relevant to try and find out what the problem is I can post it.

Thanks.

I have updated the bios and now I get bootmgr missing. Press ctrl alt del to restart. I have unplugged all other drives and made sure the sdd with OS is set to 1st in boot order. I have unplugged the usb drive I flashed from and made sure the drive is set to ahci (also tried ide but no luck) and I still can't get it to boot. Any suggestions?

In my mothers house we had an issue with the wiring which had the same results. Turn the PC on from the switch and sometimes the fuse tripped.

Turns out the circuit which got wired up for the plugs was meant to be a circuit only for lights..... I was plugging in 2 PC's, 3 screens, xbox, TV, Sky box, blueray player the lot!

Is the boot order correct in the bios?

i.e its looking at your drive with the operating system first.

I dont suppose you are willing to do a fresh install of the OS?

If you have a storage hdd make sure it is disconnected as i have seen reports of random windows files that are maybe nescesarry being put on the hdd and not the ssd.

That was the next port of call. I was just waiting to see if there was anything obvious to try that I was not aware of. The install is only 2 days old anyway, so it's not a big deal. Will I need to 're flash the bios?

Hmmm fresh install solved the issue of not being able to boot into windows but the stuttering/freezing issue has returned. Any ideas as to what could be causing this issue?

This is classic overloading of that MCB/RCD.

How old is your house? Can you feed the supply off a different circuit or ring?

Examples would be use the socket sharing the cooker as this will have it's own feed nothing else. Other option is use upstairs/downstairs socket (whichever floor your not on) and test to see if your still tripping.
