Petition to bring back the Bradbury Pound

But why would they? When it is much easier (and cheaper) to just work in one currency? Only the big stores in the UK accept euros and they tend to hit you with exchange rates.

If any shop received enough customers wanting to pay in a specific currency and it was thought to be valuable from the perspective of the shop keeper. The shop keeper would eventually be almost forced to accept it. The fact that they could pay their taxes with the currency if nothing else, is also a factor that would increase its acceptance. But with modern transaction processes it can be converted instantly at next to no cost as it can all be digital credits backed up by reserve.

There wouldn't be the need to exchange if both currencies were widely accepted.

I like the idea of currency competition quite a lot, but I can't see it happening without some sort of mass meltdown.

But there would be a cost because currencies fluctuate against each other. That cost will be passed on in one way or another.

The company would still need to account in one currency or run multiple accounts in multiple currencies. There is a cost in operation in more than one currency and the fluctuations between the currencies would mean constantly shifting prices.
