Hello all

recently been ocing my i7 for bf4 just to see what i can push with it but even with pushing to at least 4.5 ghz on a -50 offset which puts me at 1.28v even my normal games will crash out which is strange i have a more than enough power 1000w ocz 80+ gold for my rig, my gpu's are oc'd fine with no problems.

im thinking of trying again tonight for 4.3ghz at 1.28v again

anyone else has/had the same chip and board and got a good oc setting for it?

with second thoughts also thinking of going in the 1.3v terrirtory isnt exactly helpful but if it needs it then so be it.

any thoughts let me know thanks.

By crashing out do you mean to desktop? I haven't got the same motherboard as you but when I was overclocking my 3770k I found when I was near stable voltage that my games would crash to desktop after 20 minutes of playing.

I'd suggest lowering your multiplier and seeing how it goes, I know there are some tricks with changing certain settings that could help you, but I couldn't advise you what they are as I never went a messed around that much.

Hope this helps a little.

that is helpfull thanks did you change your offset v at all or kept it on auto?

and yeah it did just crash back to dekstop although wow would be the only one that crashed where as BF4 would keep strolling on.

I believe I messed around with the offset voltage, so with the Intel turbo technology it would keep very cool when not in use. When I next go on my computer I'll let you know what my voltages are, just beware that it may not be the same for you depending how well your motherboard is with overclocks as well as the CPU itself.

Have you tried other games? and how long does it take to crash to desktop? I find that some games due to how they use the CPU they would crash, not crash or crash later than some games. :)

I run mine at 4.5ghz at 1.25 volts, don't bother with the offset as my PC is mostly either gaming/folding or asleep.

I thought it was not recomended to run a negative offset?

Yeah with mine the offset obviously is positive, so it's like 1.04v or something like when not turbo'd. Still need to look what mine actually is on load, been using the laptop too much recently.
