Neighbour asked to scrounge our wifi

aaaaah, the irony is, id already posted saying that you hadnt given your answer yet.....

id check those links out yourself ;)

I dont fancy pointing out the obvious... but... :p
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=25130526&postcount=182

why would you have home made adult films accessible on the network....

Lazyness really, files are included in a NAS backup of my 3tb drive and i havent bothered sorting through them yet. Friends/family would never find them while visiting but someone with 24/7 access and a bit of curiosity might well do.

OP I'd like to answer with a few questions if I may?

1) Is she fit?
2) Is she willing to come to some sort of 'arrangement'?
3) Omg why haven't you posted pics of said possible fittie yet?

this thread has potential...

I expect a 'police kicked my door in this morning and I was arrested for facebook racism' thread in a few weeks!

Can I borrow your WiFi?

There's no need, according to the way GD forums works if i say it's on my NAS drive it should be read as it's uploaded to all the major porn channels! :D

You're just setting yourself up for a fall there, I said my mrs will tell her we can't (which she did 5 mins after) and you posted saying i'd given her access. You do understand what can't means right?

Cheers for the discussion GD, it has been sorted. No Wifi access for the neighbour, my mrs can still stay friends with her without coming across as being unhelpful and i don't have to talk to the neighbour. All together win!

Virgin Router allows multiple SSID, give her one of them but turn on MAC address filtering, then say it her equipment at fault.

You could even do a demo showing your own devices working just my adding their MAC addresses to the list.

Only do this if you can't bring yourself to tell her to get lost.

If you are really mean you could turn off the firewall on her connection, or set up parental lockouts at 7pm or block domains such google.co.uk and facebook.co.uk

I would never trust a neighbours connection, never mind trust anyone else with mine.

oooo....kaaay....

either, im going crazy here, or your missing what i posted AFTER id jokingly said you had given them the access...

i posted you had given the access as a Q and A type thing into GD.....

someone then asked if you had given them the access and i posted

post 192.... before you said about going specsavers etc.... I knew what you had posted, as post 192 shows (i quoted the bloody posts even!!!!!)

First time ive had to explain something like that on GD... today is a good day.

Q:"guys should i let my neighbor use my wifi"
A: 100% of people said no.

OP still lets neighbor use the wifi.......

oh GD you make me happy.

id jokingly said you had given them the access...

i posted you had given the access as a Q and A type thing into GD.....

Not seeing a joke there, more of a false/hypothetical statement/assumption;
OP asks question,
GD give response,
OP chooses to do opposite of said response.

I just don't get why you would put an observational joke with an incorrect punchline then backtrack on yourself saying you knew i'd said no, but continued to joke as if i hadn't.

Just comes across like a kid getting called out on saying something wrong and replying with "yeah obviously i know that, i was testing YOU!".

Meh, nevermind. Maybe it was a 'you had to be there' joke. Only, 'be there' was in your little world :p

No no no. Child abuse images, twitter/fb racism, buying/selling drugs through your wifi?

The sort of system that you would need to comprehensively prove that it was your neighbour doing the illegal activities is far beyond friendly neighbours effort. And still wouldn't be worth it when the police knock on your door and have to explain to them who accessed it (hint: they'll still confiscate all your computers, smartphones, tablets etc)

my bad, will be more obvious in the future :P

never mind, not fussed either way :D Have fun with your none shared internet op!
