Madeleine McCann's parents

Totally agree. Dont leave your child unattended then say it wasnt your fault!!!!!!!

I agree it's the same as car drivers, they park their car in a secure car park and come back and it's gone
then they blame a thief or somebody else...just silly expecting your car to be still there!

Are you equaling the value of a car to a child?

I do thnk that the continued media exposure is actually damaging the McCanns now, the public perception is shifting away from them and I think that is a grave miscalculation on their part. I think the more people learn about the events of that evening, the more they are shifting from thinking that the Parents are victims to thinking that Madeline was the victim twice that evening and that the idea that the parents loosing their daughter is punishment enough for their indifference toward her welfare in the first place is simply excusing their responsibility and not addressing the lack of it.

lol. Whether it was in a tapas bar or in the hotel room across the hall same thing in my eyes...you left you child unattended in the hotel room/hotel. so its both of their fault.

LOL child and a car cant be compared. And they left the door unlocked in a hotel with who knows how many other people in the hotel and surrounding area. The child also has self control so could have walked out and fallen into the pool or any number of things. So comparing a car being parked in a secure car park to terrible bad parenting is stupid.

Or like finding out you're overdrawn

or finding out your overdrawn to the cost of a child ;-)

@ deuce: I know you thought your reply was kind of thinking and making analogy thingy type things, but read it again after you sober up, its not what it seemed. and drinkinjg at 3pm is like a dwarf with learning difficulties, its not big and its not clever.

Exactly!

Guilty or not guilty my personal thoughts is that they was possibly involved and even if not then they should have the remaining children taken off them and Gerry and kate both jailed for negligence. They shouldn't be allowed to make all this money from books, investigations, funds etc which have been spent mainly on themselves!

Indeed, a travesty to be honest. Madeleine deserved better from her parents and has been doubly let down by the complete inaction on the part of the authorities in regard to her parents!

So what type of punishment would you suggest the authorities mete out on the McCanns? And what purpose do you think it would serve? Assuming Madeleine was abducted, do you think that there is anything the authorities could do to the McCanns that they are not already doing to themselves mentally, emotionally?

Their neglect caused the disappearance and no doubt the death of their child... why should this go unpunished by the law? let us not forget that the same people whose neglect caused this whole scenario have 2 other children in their care, surely their ability as parents should be called into question?

I agree. But unfortunately i dont think they will ever be charged nor Maddie found.

eh? i know you are joking (hope so) but i regularly leave my car out. i wouldnt dream of going out for the night and leaving my son home alone

to be honest i never liked them anyway. they seemed to try and blame everyone bar themselves and at the end of the day their deeds started this chain reaction.

well, for a start take their money from them. why should we pay £5m for their negligence? give them the same prison sentence chavvy tracy would get if she went out on the lash and left kid alone and they died somehow.

Just because the consequences of that evening led to something far worse that also negatively impacted them doesn't imply that they should not face the legal consequences of their actions, it would only mitigate the sentence, not remove the charge to answer...whether that is simply a recognition by the authorities that they did deserve censure or that, like the Edwards Case, deserve something more is not really the point...the point is that they, as anyone else, should be held accountable for their indifference to the welfare of their Children...not only Madeline, but also the twin babies, in fact more so the Babies.

If we follow your logic then in any case where a case of negligence is suspected, the consequences of that neglect whether direct or indirect would determine whether the person(s) are to be held accountable (investigated and prosecuted) for the initial negligence...I do not think that can be justified in a fair objective legal system.
