Neither alpha nor beta....they have just released the hanger module for you to get a basic feel for the gfx layout etc...i believe there will be a part testing release for dog fighting soon.
 
with the pop up UI for setting weapons and other systems on the ship which is missing from the smaller one.

I have the small hangar myself and it has both the holotable UI and now a spare outfit being modelled - They're on the left wall, as you enter/materialise when you first launch the app.
You still have to go over to the table and click to USE it, then hold TAB to bring up the cursor and interact with it.
 
Well it dinged 23 mill over night so the xian ship is in and playable at release. 25 mill goal is enhanced appha support with more than one server location at alpha eg europe and OZ as well as the initial planned server in the US. Also looks like they will unlock nore alpha slots other than the orig 250 k
 
Hornet, Aurora, 300i, Constellation, Freelancer (Inc all released variants of these ships), possibly the Cutlass and Vanduul Fighter too

Side note: Today should be the Hornet brochure, advert and variant sale i believe as it was pushed back from last week

You really need to get a Constellation, I'll even come be one of the crew..

When is this now scheduled for release?

Early 2015 but could slip. I think that's what's so inspiring about the way this is being funded, people are happy to wait.

There are several milestones and testing elements along the way, it's not a case of pay up and wait a couple of years for anything.

Anyone tell me how i can upgrade my package? just turn it into store credit or something? I really havent looked around the site much so may well explain it there >< I really fancy something beefier than my 300i.

There's a few explanations of this, flip a few pages back.

You can melt whatever package you have for store credit, then use that to buy a new package - even if that means paying extra through PayPal.
 
Devilish, you go to the Package you wish to melt down and click on the "Exchange for Store Credits"...this will then credit your account with the Dollar value of the package you melted.

You then select the new package you wish to buy, go through the checkout proccess until you get to the payment info stage, where you will see an option that states "Credits & Coupons".....click on that option and assign the Dollar store credits to your order, it will then subtract that value from the order.....if the package is slightly more expensive, then you pay the difference.

Simples.

Wow, the wait is long on this one, cant wait to play this though! Was a huge fan of Wing Commander back in the day.
 
It's a long wait but to be fair it's not that long a development phase for a game this big, they have a lot of work to do! :D

I'm with francky it's not actually that bad as we'll be playing alpha/betas and there's a good community going.
 
The dogfighting module will undoubtedly cause a lot of wrath amongst backers - due to how arcadey/sim the flying will actually be like, how the rock paper scissor mechanics will apply etc.
