Hi all,

Been looking through a lot of the spec me posts on here and see some really good builds. I've been away from my pc gaming for awhile now and need to build a complete new system. The only things I already own are a mouse and keyboard lol.

I love my moba's like League of Legends, RTS games like Shogun Total War, Company of Heroes 2 etc. And will most definately be playing Battlefield 4.

I like playing with high settings, not really too fussed with everything being maxed out aslong as it all looks sweet and will allow me to stream easy enough to twitch.

I've got a build below with is ok in my eyes but would really like to be able to shave £100-200 off the total price, without dropping performance drastically ?

Anything you legends can think of ?

HIS HD 7950 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H795F3G2M) £159.99
Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £149.99
Packard Bell Viseo 243D 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £83.29
MSI Z87-G43 Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £74.99
Corsair Builder Series CX 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020015-UK) £61.66
Microsoft Windows 8 64-Bit DVD - OEM (WN7-00403) £59.99
Kingston 120GB SSDNow V300 Drive SATA 6Gb/s 3 2.5" (7mm height) Solid State Hard Drive - (SV300S37A/120G) £56.66
AeroCool Sixth Element Full Tower Case - White £54.99
Avexir Core Blue Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (AVD3U16000904G-2CW) - Blue Light £44.99
Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £12.49

Total £993

Thanks
Ryan

Are you planning on xfire in the future? If not then a good quality 500-650w PSU will be sufficient, would suggest antech or seasonic.

Motherboard wise the gigabyte d3hp, its £110 but comes with a free CPU cooler.

Ssd go for the Samsung 840 evo.

Cant really save any money without going second hand or changing the GPU or CPU to something worse. I would check reviews on that motherboard though, as it seems way to cheap for a Z87 motherboard. I haven't seen any feedback about it on this forum but there might be someone here who has it and can tell you their experiences with it. To be honest i would have more confidence in fowlers suggested motherboard.

You can certainly go lower on the PSU if you wont Crossfire or SLI in the future but you wont save all that much cash.

Yeah i have no intention of Crossfire or SLI, so will look at a lower psu.

Thanks for the advice on the mb, will check out your suggestion.

I'd say any Z87 board that works at that price that works is a 'fairly decent board for the price'. lol

Didn't think Z87 boards got that cheap.

Will the OP be overclocking?

All the OP`s prices don`t include VAT, incase you had`nt noticed.
The board is actually £90 and comes with a free Civetta cooler.
So, considering the review ran the same tests with the Gigabyte Z87-D3HP and there was`nt much between them, if anything. I would say it was good value for the money and not to be sniffed at.

To be fair bud the civetta cooler isn't worth a rub (granted better than a stock heatsink). The GB Z87-D3HP comes with a decent ~£30 heatsink free so I'd go with that.....

The 270X is basically a 7870LE. OC'd they trade blows with a stock 7950 so offer very good bang for the buck. I wouldn't bother with the 7950, makes sense to pay the slight extra for a 7970 (the 280X is a rebranded 7970 anyway) to be honest.
