Do we need all the AA to keep killing out GPU's?

As we all know, AA is the GPU killer, but I am not sure we need it all or on eyes are going...So help me out and put an amount of AA used to the picture and what form off AA is used. I will help by giving the settings but for which screen shot was it?

2560x1440 + 4 X MSAA (SSAA)
2560x1440 + 4 X MSAA (HBAO)
2560x1440 + 2 X MSAA (HBAO)
2560x1440 + 2 X MSAA (SSAA)
2560X1440 no HBAO or SSAA
1920X1080 + 4 X MSAA (SSAA)
1920x1080 + 4 X MSAA (HBAO)
1920x1080 + 2 X MSAA (HBAO)
1920x1080 + 2 X MSAA (SSAA)

See who can get it correct

I have a feeling quite a few will get them wrong

I dunno, but it's a lot more noticeable when you're moving.

And yeah, your fps counter is a bit of a giveaway for some of the settings

Compressed images aren't great for judging AA.

Side note but that looks like precision / rivatuner for the overlay? If so how did you add your cpu cores to it?

It's no much the AA that kills the performance it depends on what kind of engine the game is running on.

Forward rendering engine don't suffer that much from turning it on, deferred engines though cripple GPU's because of the sheer memory requirements from using multiple buffers.

The STALKER games can easily jump up an extra 250-300Mb of memory use just from moving from 0xAA to 2xAA because they run a deferred engine.

Since it's downsampled it's a bad representation

And you run at a resolution higher than we're allowed to display here, upload the original files to a file sharing site, or link to them.

Not sure on those but I was just playing with Blacklists settings. HBAO and SSAO at ultra settings sits at around 50-60% GPU usage. SSAO+ sends it rocking to 80-99%. Now my eye sight isn't the best lol...but I really can't see any difference at 1080p.
