Does anyone have a way to improve the bass on these headphones? They are fairly comfortable which is good, but they have practically no bass, and the sound is quite tinny and makes my ears sore quick quickly.

Is there a way to improve the sound on them as people seemed to rate them very highly!

At the moment they are plugged into my laptop which is playing spotify and or 320kbps/FLAC files.

Thanks

They are very good headphones, but it really comes down to taste. Some people do prefer more bass than others. I'd at least try a portable amplifier, something like a FiiO E6. Laptop audio and PC motherboard audio in general is really rather poor at driving headphones properly. If you still find them lacking, then you could EQ the sound. You could EQ the sound now, but there is no getting away from the fact that the laptop audio out will likely be holding the headphones back.

Yeah the 595s are lovely, so crisp and detailed but open sound so leak sound like nothing.

I found the bass to be more punchy and crisp, certainly not the deep thunderous bass some like to hear. As said above you may find a headphone amp to help out, its best to ask the audiophile experts on head fi forums though before purchasing. Also as said above with playing with the EQ settings you maybe able to find bass tweeks/mods for winamp/media player/foobar, although never bothered much with them !

It's really hard to quantify something like bass. What some people think is bass heavy, others would find lacking in bass.

I don't own any expensive headphones, but I do love my el-cheapo Koss KSC-75s. Compared to other headphones I've listened to, I always thought they had a good amount of bass. I hate things to sound tinny; I love lots of low frequency rumble. I love hearing bass guitars shake my ears :)

So I was surprised the other day to hear the KSC-75s described is good for mid-range sound, but light on bass...

I know it's stating the obvious, but if you've only tried them on your laptop have you got the sound EQ setup to your liking. When I updated my desktop and re-connected to my receiver I was initially disappointed as I wondered where the bass had gone. After I'd checked in settings and realised that the default settings only went down to 80hz, I re-adjusted to something more in-line with what my speakers can handle and back came the missing bass.
