As title really, a while back i brought dark souls and was really getting into it but stopped playing for another game and now i wonder if going back in from where i left off would be confusing or if i should restart

Or i got dragons dogma dark arisen on ps plus so wonder if thats worth giving a go?

I really enjoyed what i played of dark souls but i have less and less time to focus on a game lately and that seems lile one that needs it

Opinions on either game?

If it's been a while since you played, start again. Trying to figure out what to do partway in with no recollection of what you're doing, you'll just end up dying a lot and getting frustrated. Start again, pick the Pyromancer as your starting class, and just have fun. There are several experts here who can point you in the right direction when/if you get stuck :)

Have a look at an online guide to get your bearings. How are you playing it? Do you have a particular weaponset and armourset build in mind? Or are you playing it through area by area as they come?

You're 6 hours in? Which area you in? I assume the undead burg type areas? Got past the red dragon bit yet?

I got the drake sword a while back i believe, ill get name of area later but i recal killing 2 gargoyles on a roof top and ringing a bell, and after that went down som stairs to an underground like bit where theres another big ass monster that i barely did any damage to, but if i run past him i came to like a forest? That was where i left it i think

I kind of play and take it as it comes if i can

Hope tgis helps

Yup, the Titanite Demon can be a pain, especially if you're melee and you're not used to dodging out of the way of his attacks. This is one of the reasons I recommend being a Pyro, as you will have a ranged attack you can use to take out a lot of the more powerful enemies.

Yea was thinking that would be handy, ill give it a try when im home and see or maybe restart as a pyro as im not too far but some of those past bosses were a bitch! :D

Been wondering about buying Dark Souls for a while, would like to get it on Steam while still getting achievements :)

But every time it has been on sale, for some reason I havent bought it

get yourself a good bow and about 500 arrows:D

or Soul Arrow also?

you got the sword from shooting the red dragons tail yeah? icant remember exactly if its drake sword u get. Anyway you could go down to the depths and do that? (wear stuff with resistance to curse though) I always try and summon help which makes levels like the depths so much easier. A good way to learn a level is to let yourself be summoned to help someone else . Also just after the depths is blightown where you can get a pretty cool sorta ninja blade/katana thing. Blighttown is a nightmare though troll type beasties guard it and u need to wear poison resistance gear.

I went back to buy soul arrows but didn't have enough souls so used a bow and arrow while hiding behind a rock so his attacks couldn't reach me! On to the forest those trees are a pain in a group, trying to take out big stone knight enemies atm, maybe my weapon/equipment isnt up to scratch

Dragon's Dogma runs at about 15fps, and despite how epic some of the battles are, 15fps is 15fps, so my vote would be Dark Souls. :p

Poison arrows (always keep as many as possible of em :D)

The stone knights can be a problem if you are lower level watch out!(slow spell they cast on you) However if you are very lucky or skilled you can grab some VERY good knight armour in there but i think it is surrounded by at least 2 stone knights.

Farm the trees for that stuff they drop (resistance and cures for poison coz trust me you will need a boatload of it later :D)

Try keep an eye out for another weapon as drake sword outlives its usefulness fairly soon. Dont think you get any stat bonuses from it.

do you prefer quick attacks or slower more powerful? thrust attacks or sword swings? Hammers etc? Prefer to dodge or heavy armor all the way?

Did you get Astoras Sword in valley of the drakes? (if you have faith stat) It helps when going into the catacombs

When i was playing dark souls i tried to level as LITTLE as possible and upgrade weapons (at least 3 or 4 weapons i liked) as much as possible.

Reason for this is you are only invaded by folk + -10 to your level.

It isn't even very good either tbh. It has potential, but it is just average at best in pretty much every area...and it is a very ugly game as well.

I haven't played a huge amount but it seems very good so far, wouldn't call it ugly as the art design isn't amazing but the scale and scope of the game plus the size of the enemies you face is pretty awesome. The climbing system is decent and it's pretty epic when you scale a big ass cliff side just to sprint off it and onto some giant ogre you're fighting.

TBH it was wasted on consoles, the blurry graphics and very very low fps (even by console standards!) shows that PC should have been the main focus for it. The fact the only way you can experience it is a 15-25fps (mostly 20ish) blurry mess is what holds it back imo. Lack of PC version is what makes it rubbish. Not to say that a game has to be on Pc to be good because pretty much all of the PS3 exclusives and GTA 5 prove otherwise, but this is definitely a case where it had to of been to truly shine.

Capcom are such retards.

Dark Souls all the way. However the game is extremely hard if you try to beat the game without any guide on your first play through.

I highly recommend finding out which areas to clear first.

Harsh tbh. At its core excellent mechanics. Combat is most fun ive seen in any rpg (dark souls combat is more tactical and trying to survive imo).

Some glaring things let DD down but maybe one day we'll get a sequel on PS4. All the valid criticisms of it are in the DD thread.

Ive heard the combat and pawn system praised rather well which is why i was debating playing it
