I bought one of these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-065-HS&tool=3
last week and i've noticed that under load that the card is physically extremally hot, the cooling pipes are too hot to touch and the case for the fan gets so hot that the sticker has peeled off, but the gpu temp has never gone above 71 degree's i've used multiple programs to check, is this normal and its just the heat being taken away from the gpu, I just never remember my 5850 getting that hot.

I had the same thing happen to both of the ones I had in my possession, both have extremely hot heat pipes (at least this means the heat is being transferred), and both had the sticker peel off after only a few days (annoying), also somebody else in the 7950 IceQ owners thread had also had their sticker fall off so assume this is a minor issue with this card. When I get my new case I'm just gonna remove the sticker and put it back in my packaging, quite annoying seeing it dangling and swaying in the air from my fans!

I found I improved temps of this card by a lot by placing a cable tied fan in line to blow air down the card length wise, probably dropped my max temps by about 5 Celsius.

Thanks, good to know its not just mine, I guess its just all the heat being taken away from the gpu.

Hows the card compared to your old 5850 in performance terms though?

Only game i've played so far is Crysis 2, on the 5850 I couldn't run the high res texture pack and dx11 very well, and on the intensive bits with big explosions and the like it became like a slideshow, the 7950 is running everything on full with the texture pack and dx11 and does a constant 60 fps with vsync on, weirdly though performance in Unique vally isn't a whole lot better, also overclocking the 7950 doesn't make any difference I wonder if this benchmark is quite cpu heavy.
