would a Corsair CX 500 be ok for the following

i5-2500k oc to around 4.3
Asus HD 7970 Matrix Platinum at stock
1 ssd
1 hdd
1 dvdr
4 usb devices

no point in changing 500W bronze for 520W bronze, despite Seasonic being better.

and I'd get at least semi-modular.

And why is that?
Obviously getting a higher wattage unit and modular is going to cost a lot more. So, it rather depends on the OP`s budget.

Yes, but if he's going to upgrade the PSU at all he's best getting a 750Wish one so he doesn't have to upgrade again later on.

because it's pointless "upgrade" ?

his question was if CX500 can run it, the answer is yes.

I am well aware of what the question was and what the answer is..
I just said the Seasonic is better, as the OP never mentioned whether he actually has the CX500 or is intending to buy it.

Yes have the cx but looking to future proof

Not too fussed about noise looking at £150 max but want it to last for next few years if I decide to upgrade

Unless your going run multiple GPU'S in the future then 500w ~ are plenty for most setups, but if your looking at 2 then a 750w ~ PSU.
