Got a bad cold? DON'T GO INTO WORK YOU SELFISH ****

You need to work in the public sector, unnecessary absence is more acceptable there...

Yawn. More complete anti-publc sector nonsense from Dolph. I work in local government and our sickness policy is the most draconian I've ever seen (and I've worked for multi-national companies).

If I get sick I just work from home.

Ah the joys of usually being the last person to catch colds that are going around at work if at all so no one can moan at me for coming in with it :D

Since discovering first defence though I've so far not gone down with any of the colds that have been doing the rounds - enough times that I'm pretty sure the stuff works and its not just coincidence.

Going into work with a cold is not brown-nosing, it's called not being a pussy.

Its called being a mug (Not that I can talk as I've gone in with one of the worst migraines I've ever had and pulled a 9.5 hour warehouse shift when short staffed - all these people talking about manning up can do one til they've done that tbfh)

Bottom line is, everyone falls ill and still goes to work same amount of work gets done... Those who dont come, are not good enough and should be made redundant.

While you're researching how to write sentences you can also look up what redundant means in that context.

I work in a hospital, and the system is a joke. Anything over 4% sickness in a year will get you a warning.

Actively encouraged to come into work ill, in a ****ing hospital. Makes me laugh.

OP you seriously want to man up. Just take some paracetamol and get on with it.

To digress, i once came down with flu about 3 years ago on a Christmas Day and i thought i was dying, i couldn't walk i was feverish. Never been so ill in all my life. It was the time of the Swine Flu 'epidemic' so maybe it was that. I've had the flu jab ever since and even though the wife and kids have had bad colds i never seem to catch them.

Not had a day off this year and proud of it....yet I see people at work now exceeding 30 days this year. The same hardcore group of work shy people double their holiday every year.

I guess the good part is when people need to be let go, they will be first in the firing line

People need to man up, sending a email saying..'didn't get much sleep going back to bed' doesn't cut it in my book.

Just be glad it's not Ebola or the black death and get on with it...

Unless it's manflu and then all you need is a young priest and an old priest to try and exorcise that evil and failing that perform last rights....

Or you know, just grow up. Stop winging and carry on with your life. You'll probably find the cold goes away quicker then than moping around with a sniffy nose and sore throat.

That's about 2 weeks off a year! I'd say if you're up there with sickness then you need to be the one in the hospital bed. The warning level is pretty high IMO.

Colds arev the worst things, not ill enough to stay off work but feel like ****
i dontt tend to get ill much anymore however, i find if you wash your hands a lot, and dont put your hands anywhere near your face, dont rub yur eyes/nose dont use tissues unles you really have to, it really does help you not catch anything, as long as someone doesnt sneeze in your face your ok!

Or do all of them from a young age and build up a good immune system. The biggest issue people have now is the use of antibacterial products and not being allowed to get dirty when they are young. Too much cleaning is also linked to Asthma.

Its a combination of ways, primarily through the transference of bacteria through sneezing and coughing and the contamination of hands and surfaces thereof. DP has gotten it a little confused and separated the initial expulsion with the subsequent contamination leading to the spread of infection.

You also spread illness if you take a dump I someone's face but civilizedele don't do that and cover their mouth and once when coughing and sneezing, wash their hands and don't shake hands with people when they know they are sick. That way there no significant risk of infection when you have a cold and is why most work places expect you to turn up to work with a cold.

Unfortunately some people rely on their jobs to do things like, pay rent/mortgage, food, clothing, heating - and so they have no choice but to go into work with all manner of illnesses.

My little boy goes to nursery and brings everything back home. We get all sorts, colds, sickness bugs, eye infections etc. The only thing that has beaten me is a couple of sickness bugs where I physically couldn't be parted from the toilet. Colds are a minor inconvenience regardless how unpleasant they are.

I don't get paid if i don't go to work. So the only thing that stops me going into work is if I'm in hospital. When i broke my wrist i only took 1 day off.....

So to the holier than thou crowd - you are the reason Jeremy Kyle is popular! ;)

I always make sure I wash my hands after going toilet (the amount of people that don't is disgusting!!), shower everyday and am generally clean.... If i sneeze i always do it into a tissue which gets binned straight away. Doing a little helps a lot....
