I could sell and pretty much swap my GTX 780 for 2 x R280X, Ive not crossfired/sli'd in such a long time, is it still plagued with issues ???

The r9 280x crossfire would be much faster. Crossfire/sli is pretty robust these days. What are your reasons for considering this move as for just about every game the gtx780 is powerful enough at 1080p and below.

Well, I guess because if I were to sell the 780 then now is the right time before other cards get released and prices fall. Also, just thinking about future proofing. I do play at 1080p and I know its more than enough, however theres always a new title to come along to start pushing a single card below 60fps, which I hate.

Wouldn't be much faster IMO. Well it depends what you classify as much. Looking at 35-45% game dependent and overclocking dependent. That is significant but when converted to a raw FPS figure it isn't what I'd call huge.

If you game with vsync on sometimes those extra frames can be lost anyway so the extra power isn't utilised yet you've still got the heat/noise/power draw irrespective.

So I guess OP it comes down to what you want - more raw power or an easier single card experience. There's no wrong/right answer.

Only thing that puts me off is I've always bought into the 'buy the single fastest GPU you can afford' mantra. There is no denying the value though.

Man this is making me consider getting a second 770 :P

Been trying to hold off and see what happens to 780's/290's

:) I love my 770's well much more so now I have upgraded my CPU my i5 2500 was kinda holding me back, BF3 is beautiful in motion especially with a 120hz screen.

But there's no mistaking how good those r280's are cracking value.
