Pokemon X and Y - 3DS - Oct 2013

Accidentally killed a shiny Gabite. Might cry :(.

Doh gutted. These guys have a habit of kamikaze moves that end up killing themselves.

Bred a nice naive bagon 29/31/28/31/31/30 with dragon dance and hydropump which is about as close as I can get to perfect at this moment. Tje eggs take so long to hatch it's taken 2 solid days to get there.

Very close to clicking buy on a 2DS and this game... I don't play anything handheld but have always loved Pokemon... Worth it?

this game has been absolutely amazing, havent been able to put it down from saturday-sunday ive put in at least 14 hours and im on my way to the 5th gym.

although im not completely sold on the 2DS, its a massive brick :/

Have put in about 14 hours since Friday myself but I'm only on my way to he 2nd gym, been doing lots of exploring and training in the wild. I do have a question though, how are people getting their hands on Pokemon that aren't in the Pokedex for this game? Elekid for example, he's not in this game but he's my favourite Electric type and I would much rather have him over Raichu. I see him up for trade on GTS but how are people getting him? As far as I'm aware, you can't trade from any previous gen games to this one right now.

Are there GTS hacks already? Or is this because of the Friend Safari?

I went to buy X yesterday, didn't realise the guy gave me Y until I got home so slightly gutted about that!

Had to play it though and it does look so pretty! I don't know how the special stats etc work so I wouldn't class myself as a serious player but loving it so far!

I'm going have to invest in the guide I think i haven't got a clue on what you guys on about bout 10 hours in and haven't got to the 2nd gym yet

The second Gym is quite far in, they are much more closely spaced together after that though.

I bought guides as a kid, know I just use Serebii and google :)

Moves are either physical or special. Special moves have a blue symbol with two white circles on it, and physical moves have a red symbol with a yellow 'splat' mark on it.

Physical moves go off of your attack stat, and against their defense stat. Special moves go off your Special Attack, and against their Special Defense.

Simples.

Electabuzz is in the friend safari, I can trade you one if you want?

You'd be doing me a great favour man if you could, I'd really appreciate it. Is there anything you want from me? I'm very early on in the game so there's not much I can think of that you'd be interested in but let me know maybe I can sort something out. My friend code is 4742-5377-3796, I'll be home after 6 so if I could get yours between now and then that would be great.

Thank you again.

Just ordered Y to come tomorrow.

So guys (instead of starting a new thread as it will just get moved here), what are 10 top tips for someone who hasn't played Pokemon in a while (got Black 2 but never really got into it).

I am super OCD, so I don't mind restarting it to get the perfect 'nature' Pokemon.

Which starting Pokemon is the best choice?

It is possible to get all the starter pokemon from each Gen? I love them and would really like them, are they catchable?

Thanks for that though I didn't actually mean that. I meant the iv things and natures etc.

Although, now you've wrote that I realise I didn't understand the special attack stuff either so that did help!

So a nature is like a double edge sword. It adds 10% to one stat and takes 10% off another. Or you can have a neutral nature which doesmt add or subtract any stats.
Iv is like how good thr genes of a pokemon are.

IVs max at 31 in each stat.

Example if a pokemon with 100 base Attack+ 10% = 110 attack.

It's basically stat optimisation to give you great stats where you need them most.
