Hi all wonder if any of you good guys can advise me?

I really want a new GPU, I'm not paying Titan Prices as I dont think its warranted seeing as a 780GTX can almost match it.

I know the 780 TI is about to land, but not sure if its going to be pricy. I don't Game @ 4K i'm still on 1080P as I like my 3D gaming on my passive LG monitor.

My CPU is an i7 2600K @ 4.4GHZ and I have been looking at either the MSI Lighting 780GTX or the EVGA Classified 780GTX.

I do like AMD and to be honest the 7970GHZ has IMHO been an amazing Card but I feel its time to Upgrade. I know my CPU is aging but OC UK will be getting a nice order off me in the near future. I just want to change the GPU for now.

What do you guys suggest? Wait for the 780TI, get a 780GTX/R290.. I guess waiting is the smartest move, but not sure.

I was going to buy a PS4, but with 300+ games on steam + my Steam addiction, and my preference for PC gaming Id rather wait on the PS4 and upgrade my PC.

Thanks for any help.

Second HD7970/280x for CF (or even a 7950 that clocks) or wait for the confirmed 290/290x / 780TI reviews before making any decision.

No point spending £500 on a 780 now, only to find in two weeks a 290x trumps it for less.

+1

Windforce 7950 user here, same itch, really trying to hold out but watching all the 79xx deals dry up makes me nervous . . .

If you like 3d gaming i think another 7970 would be a wise choice. Tommy uses 2x7950's at 1080p for 3D gaming. I think more grunt where 3D is required is always helpful.

Credit card itch???? :p:p

haha perhaps..

Thanks guys for the info. I think ill hold out for the newer Cards. I will be ordering a new CPU/RAM/PSU/MOBO and perhaps a case from OCUK next year, so my thinking is ill get the GPU out of the way now.

I know maybe by then there will no doubt be (780GTX Ti-Titan-X4) and 2 for good measure, but i can live with that lol

Thanks.

For 1080p passive 3D a single 7970 should have no issues at all as you still run 60Hz. Tbh I doubt you would see massive gains upgrading unless you went 1440p or 120hz+.

Fight the itch is my answer... :)
