So we should get rid of the word race altogether?
Because "african americans" arent a race because we can call them Africans, white isn't a race because we can call them whites, etc?

Generally though you can't change your ethnicity, you can however change your religion.
See you're still using the elementary definition of race. I didn't say you're going to turn black or white.
No you won't "change race", however you will become part of the collective of Muslims on earth which can be defined as a race.
So if a Muslim becomes a Christian his race changes? Or does he leave the collective of Muslims which can be defined as a race and then join the collective of Christians which can be defined as a race?

It is important, micro agressions occur towards people based on race all the time, racism isn't just the hard N word and murder, and pretending racism is just a random thing does not help. We need to examine motivations for random mursers.
Does this anger you as much as the attack on the soldier a while back? Also what are your views on "White people are better then anyone else."?
Personally I don't think the racism is relevant when it comes to murder, I would find the fact that he was apparently defenseless more of a worry.
It's important to understand the underline cause of a given behaviour.
But - what I would say is that it's not any worse than another attack, or if the scale was comparable (which it isn't in it's death toll) to say when Anders Breivik killed a load of people simply for being 'left-wing'.
I don't see much different between hating somebody for being a certain colour, or hating somebody for any other similar stupid unjustifiable reason.
Racism in most cases is the 'many against the few', all cultures have problems with racism within them - for example, Israel has a huge problem with anti-African racism, Christians have a hard time in some of the middle east/Egypt, Middle eastern people have issues in France.
It's nothing new.

I get it, I just happen to disagree with it. Anything that is changeable shouldn't really be classified as race. Not that race really matters anyway.

People that blow up/stab/murder innocent people are evil scum. To do so because of the colour of another persons skin seems not just evil but archaic and primitive, sadly there isn't a race on this planet that doesn't have a contingent of anti *fill the blank* people within it.
