Batman Arkham Asylum & City both just converted to Steamworks only

ATM you have to wait, it seems they may in the future allow GFWL keys to register on Steam from threads I have seen. But tbh you can get them both on Steam in sales for £5 which normally includes both games.

Downloaded the full thing but my Arkham City GOTY hasnt got a key yet. Is it same for anyone else?

"Failed to contact key server"

"Failed to contact key server"

Found a way to bypass that.

Go into;

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Batman Arkham City GOTY

The double-click RunLauncher.bat

And play :D

I got Arkham City on DVD a couple of years back but haven't got round to installing it yet. Guess I ought to try and play it soon to avoid any issues.

I have seen that too thanks for the post. Do u think Steam going to fix it though?

I hope so 'cos if I minimise the game at all I lose it totally & have to end it in Task Manager as it doesn't sit on the Task Bar or anywhere if I minimise it.

I think it's due to the key server being hammered or down, due to the cheap sale & switch over from GFWL.

Well the sale weekend is all but over and the retail CD Keys still aren't working... I really hope they do sort it out soon as I'm already beginning to regret not just paying the £2.50 to buy Arkham Asylum again

Downloaded it last night, just watched it install GFWL and now it wants to configure Securom.... wtf? Game won't activate. Using the runlauncher.bat makes no difference.
What a complete waste of bandwidth again.

You will all be happy to know that Steam has fixed the "failed to contact Key Server" Problem.

Just tested mine and it works without any bother now straight from Steam.

I think I lost my Arkham Asylum save. I'm not really clued up with Steam and the whole thing so I don't really know what I'm doing, all I know is I buy games and then I play them.

I bought both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City GOTY when they were on offer from GMG the other week, I started Asylum but only did around 10% and then I put it down. I went to play it last night and when I started it up I had no save game, no big deal as I wasn't very far into it but if I had all the unlocks and stuff I would be mega pi$$ed.

Is this related to this thread? I bought them from GMG but DL them through steam, I've no idea how it all works, like I said, I just click buy and then play stuff, if you ask me this whole Steam thing is far more complex than I'd like it to be.

Yeah, I started again last night. I'm a bit further in now and I'm worried something like this is going to happen again.

Only thing I don't understand, I didn't have to do anything or activate anything, I just opened the game as normal and it started no problems, all that was wrong was the missing save.

I found a link from RPS, which led to the following link:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3192933

An automated patcher to ensure save compatibility, apparently. I have not tried it (although I have created the new Save) because my AC has not updated to Steamworks yet.

Just a head up for those who don't want to lose 20+ hours of the game...

Or you could read the instructions I posted earlier in this thread - It's pretty easy to do

Maybe this means i'll be able to play the DLC for AC that I bought last year, didn't work, and neither Microsoft nor WB could give a **** about.

I did see those instructions - just thought that using the application is way easier than farting about with a Hex Editor.

I'll give you that :D... although the application seems to be specific to Arkham City (unless I misread), and for me at least I'd rather do it manually than trust a program from some random guy (see what I did there ;)) who could just be capitalising on a topical issue (like the infamous gibtuxpls script which did the rounds during the TF2 Linux penguin promotion) </tinfoilhat>

For some reason once arkham asylum updated, The benchmark was removed from the game, A lot of other steam user are reporting the same situation.
