NVIDIA’s strategy is to give their GeForce GTX 780 a price cut probably after the GeForce GTX Holiday bundle expires late next month. NVIDIA will wait for the AMD Radeon R9 290 to launch and based upon its price give their GeForce GTX 780 a massive price cut to compete specifically against the Hawaii Pro card. Since both would be about the same in terms of performance, the one offering more value in the end would be deemed the winner.

So the ti might not beat a 290X, merely trade blows?

If that's the case it's frankly unsurprising. There's been very little to choose between AMD & nVidia other than personal preference for a long time now...

780 with a price drop to ~£400 with splinter cell, Arkham origins and Assassins Creed Black Flag would be a pretty good seller I reckon!

This.

Nvidia are in the driving seat this time.

Free games + PhysX + G-Sync + a great price

Why look anywhere else? :p

Can always count on Nvidia not to give a too great a deal to its customers :p

Reminds me of late 2002/early 2003 when ATi released Radeon 9500 Pro... a card a bit too good for the price and a bit too competitive against their own Radeon 9700's... so much that after 6months they made it EOL and released Radeon 9600Pro making people think it was a faster/better card but no.
First and only time I've seen a company retract a product that was a bit too good for their own sake.

^^ Yeah neither of these company's are charity's. Both seem to have shady tactics. All this propitiatory API crap, makes me want to jump to console. I want a unified platform ffs. Hopefully SteamOS will bring things together for PC..

About free games, who cares these days what with humble bundles or steam sales. The free games while nice i guess are just a gimmick. Tho i can see why ppl might want em, to flog em to get the price of the card they bought for cheaper in the end but well. If its a expensive card like 400+ then saving a little from the games isnt gona be that much.
