As the 4770k is on a great deal today I have decided to grab it as well a new mobo. I was going to go wtih the Gigabyte with the free cooler as I am doing it on a very strict budget but as that board is not suitable for xfire i'm stuck.

I had a browse on the forums and everyone recommends the Noctua or a Corsair but I don't have £60 to spend on a cooler for what will be a mild overclock. Are there any decent sub £30 coolers that could get me to 4.2-4.3GHz without giving off a burning smell?

Cheers.

It's only 16x and 4x which is what my current board also is, as I need to get a whole new mobo and CPU I want to make sure I get the most out of what I have so I want that extra 5-10% i've lost on my current one!

I've never used a liquid cooler before and am dubious of refurbished units from what i've read on the forum. Also that Coolermaster I think my friend had but was an absoulte PITA to install.

The Thermalright True Spirit seems recommended at around £35. Anything beat that for cheaper asised from possibly that Coolermaster?

On every other site i've seen it doesnt mention this being compatible with socket 1150. I assume OCUK's description is right or are all 1155 cooler automatically compatible?

I love my old thermaltake frio, but it looks like the new versions are quite steep. If you can find the original one on the cheap it is epic. 65C load at 4.3ghz and the stock fans are so so quiet.

I am currenly using a Gelid Tranquillo to cool my 3570k, as it wasn't listed as 1150 compatible I thought I needed a new one. Was this incorrect?

Your current cooler will be fine fit wise. Ive used the k2 on my spec in sig and on an ivy bridge setup. The mounting holes for coolers are identical on the motherboards. It's only the socket where the cpu is placed that is different.

Sweet £35 saved, cheers. Although I don't have any specific equipment for cleaning the bottom of the heatsink, any suggestions on household products or is it worth spending the £5 for a cleaning pack.

Thanks for the help.
