Spec me a mini ATX system

Hi guys,

I am looking at buying myself a new system. I have recently moved in to a new house and will be moving again in a few months and intend on going to a few lans over the next year. So carrying a huge tower around is becoming quite a chore.

Now I have zero experience with mini ITX systems (edit i meant mini ITX), what is the difference? besides it being smaller...my budget is around £900~ without hard drives. I also have a GTX 680 I could pull out of my existing system, but wouldn't mind an upgrade if its worth it as I could sell this off.

thats the ITX version of the case, (same size as the MATX version)

you do know that that case isnt exactly what most people call small (the MITX version anyways)

to put it in perspective, comparing it with a beauty of an MATX case.

Maybe even smaller than the prodigy..

the 350d is just remarkable..

if it wasnt for the fact its not any smaller than my current case then id have bought it by now (it does look a lot better than mine though)

prodigy itx is silly imo, its so big. now the prodgiy-m is out it makes more sense (size wise)

TJ08-E, thats a nice case too. was on my list of contenders.

haha.

now if i was going MITX i would be hassling the guys over at Parvum to hurry up.

or would go with the SG05.

the only real issue is the SFX psu. (you can mod the SG5 to fit an ATX psu but it will restrict airflow)

Any idea on width for the Parvum mini-ITX?

As PSU is in compartment behind motherboard I imagine it's a pretty wide case. Especially if no plans to fit large air cooler or custom water cooling.

If I was going to build MITX again I would probably build it in one of those shineh Parvum cases though.

Just to add a comment to system specced by joelk2:
I have that cpu and mobo, both run great.
The only thing is that Id suggest having some good fan on top, because north bridge likes to heat up a lot on Asus Z87I-Pro. Actually even adding some 40-60mm fan near there would help.

I am doing it, loads of fun
At least I can tell, I haven't seen a tube mini itx case made commercially by anyone so mine is unique.
