Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

I'm currently running the following.

Nvidia 670 GTX
Z87-3DHP
16GB DDR3 Cosair Vengence Low Profile RAM at 1333Mhz
Intel 4760k i5 3.4Ghz
@ 2560*1440.

How well should this run?

Currently it's not overclocked, which is something I'm considering doing. Bit paranoid about it as my last motherboard died after OC'ing my old RAM. Any one have a good straight forward noob friendly guide to overclocking?

I reckon these benchmarks are pretty reliable. If it was at 1080p then you would be fine, but at that res, you might be lowering the IQ.

If your 670 was 4Gb, then SLI 670 4Gb would sort out your issue I reckon. But with only 2Gb vram cards, I doubt SLI would help.

It will run fine.
even if you drop some settings for the game which might be needed due to cpu demands are high.

So dropping the resolution might be a good idea? Playing games at 1080p on a 1440p monitor seems fine. I assume it just makes the textures worse?

Bf3 didnt look much different from Ultra to high settings or medium for that matter. if you care for the visuals
I play all low normally with BF3/BF4 as I want max fps with my set up.
test and play the game, set different settings and find out if you like what you see when its playable for you.
and use windows 8 as an OS is recomended with 64bit.

overclocking if your new to it, I advice agaisnt until you read up on and go slow and carefully. and use quality hardware if you push the system.

IPS over TN panel any day of the week.....

Fixed :p

Would like to move to 120Hz but just couldn't move back to TN after using an IPS monitor and for the same reasons someone else said; would need a new GPU, new PSU and in my case probably a new CPU so I would also need to get a new motherboard + RAM :p :(

And yup, I noticed no difference whatsoever between high or ultra for the beta, even the FPS were more or less the same..... Probably like the bf 3 beta i.e. no ultra textures etc. were included.

Heck even medium and high looked pretty similar.....

High Res IPS is pointless for competetive FPS, you've got a resolution that actually puts you at a disadvantage, higher input lag than most TN panels and even worse so if you're comparing to 120/144hz TN panels and then there's lightboost.

Doesn't stop me from doing very well in BC 2, BF 3 and the BF 4 beta! ;) :p

Although I don't play competitively, only pub servers.

The Dell U2311H IPS monitor is pretty good for gaming (well for an IPS panel anyway)

I came from a pretty top end gaming TN monitor for the time (samsung sync master 930BF) and noticed no difference when it came to input lag etc.

But it sure looks nice! :D

Indeed

I am also a happy U2311H owner, 1080p@60Hz may be outdated today but I don't see me changing this monitor any time soon :D

your not competive enough then as its a obvious difference for a fps gamer.
I use 3 screens and I have a ton of latency with eyefinity even with 120hz screens and still manage to be competitive and dominate in spite of the delay, I just work around it.
at my age soon 50 I find the immersion way more important and wont go back to one screen and 120hz tn is just better.

Most wont notice difference between 20ms delay either, pro gamers does however notice. I use high sensitivty on the mouse and people I talk to in TS cant belive I use such setting and able to do what I do.
its a world of difference in elite fps gaming vs good PUB and most who think they are good elite fps gamers seldom are so good in a pub setting normally without their team support.

just saying.

BF4 I dont call a pro level fps game even if they do e-sport.
netcode isnt good enough.
