How much are monthly bills?

Thanks for your concern, I'm really touched that out of all the millions of people in the world who are far more deserving or needing of your support, you chose me for your attention and sympathy. This is an event that I'll pass on to my children and grandchildren, to remind them that even in such dark times, a small speck of human empathy and caring will always shine through.

Er, ok

You pay £13.75 a month for 60mb?!?!

mine is £26

Nope, I moved house end of July. I was paying £33.75 before I moved. I asked to terminate my Virgin Media at my old flat on 31/7/13. They rang me up twice and they couldn't give me any good deals to get VM in the new flat. 2 weeks before I was moving out I got an email from a woman at VM. She offered me £13.75 for 60mb and the same deal for my old flatmate who wanted to carry on using VM also and then I also got £50 for introducing a friend to VM. I am still in credit after 3 bills :)

Sweet deal !!

Just moved into a 5 bedroom house with 4 other students. First month's gas and electric was £190. Are we being mugged off?

Depends how much is being used. I assume 4 students could mean 4 gaming PCs on for a long period of time and then other things on top.
Nobody can answer that unless you provide what your using in terms of kw's vs costs.

It depends.

Gas cooker?
Central heating/combi boiler for shower/bath water?
PCs/other electricals on 24/7

That seems reasonable to me, what's the breakdown between gas/electric?

Yes, I'm ok now, thanks for asking though. I do really appreciate that you have a genuine desire to ensure my wellbeing. It's remarkable that even through such a distant, anonymous, and dare I say "sterile" means of communication, such as an internet forum, you're still reaching out to people, to share your compassion and love. It really says a lot that despite all the hostility in the world, you're there making sure I'm ok, thanks mate. :) <3

"Are people sharing too much" poster

Out of interest, why do you think describing your outgoings is sharing too much information?

I can understand the threads about your earnings, how much you save, and how much you have spare, but I don't see the problem with this.

TV/Broadband/phone £95 with sports and movies with virgin

Leccy £27 a month and I'm staying within that on usage

Water £10.50 a month, I'm on a meter and in credit

Gas no gas, everything is electric in my flat

Council tax £80 a month (single person discount, band A)

Other bills mobile phone £40, contents insurance £16 a month, pet insurance £25 a month, vet monthly plan to cover jabs etc £22.

Everything else, car and buildings insurance etc is paid off in one on renewal date. Mortgage is just under £400. Spend about £150 a month on food (including cats) and petrol is about £160 a month.

I don't see the problem wanting to know someone outgoings, it's not personal stuff really, it's not like I'm wanting to know what porn site or adult dating site someone is paying each month, just bills.

Helps give an idea what I might be paying when I move out and set it all up on my bank account.
