290 vs 7990 vs 780 vs Titan

A 290x would benefit from WCing greatly from the look of the temps the stock cooler keep it on.

Yeah, as right now its the standard amd housing/cooler. Nothing special cooling wise so I and im sure others would've figured the temps would be crap. Wait till you get direct CU/windfore/ msi's cooling on these bad boys!

Gibbo has just listed a 7990 for £450 delivered :)

Dam you, that is actually VERY tempting now......... i'd actually love to get a 7990 but possibly under watercooling. Doesn't it get very hot? problem with WC is that im a newbie and i've not done a custom loop YET, but I shall in the future.

But that price though...................... so tempting!

The 7990 would be tempting if i didn't need a new PSU to power it. I would also be worried the PCB might bend over time as the 7990 waterblocks are way heavier than other blocks and some people have bending problems even with the stock coolers over time (though those people are a minority).

Long piece of 1x1 wood helps to prop it up a bit and even out GPU temps :) Trust me :)
