3 years back, when I was flush with disposable income, I had a p6x58d Premium running an i7 980x (oh how I miss thee). However a year in it failed on me and being the tech ignoramus back then, I basically wrote it off, stuck it in storage and made do with a Quad core til I could afford something better. Come today I decided to check out the old card to see if anything could be salvaged.
Seeing as I'm a new member here and you guys are the people to ask about anything pc-related, I thought you might know if it could be fixed. The Motherboard has 3 small white patches close to a PCI-E slot, when connected to a PSU the Mobo power button would be illuminated red but won't switch on when pressed (going on memory). Are these white patches just corrosion or something and thus cleanable or are they something worse?
Thanks.
Apologies for the blurriness my camera is pretty bleh.
