Pokemon X and Y - 3DS - Oct 2013

Has anybody here managed to chain a shiny yet? I've spent about 4 hours grinding and I've decided it's really not for me. I can chain about 20 or so then I mess up, sometimes it's really quite tough to tell which bit of grass shakes most violently, even when I do reset the radar a few times :(

Odds are still very very low...and unless you've got a syncroniser poke leading your group your going to struggle to get a decent one. .

on the other hand I captured my yveltal last night with modest nature and 29/31/15/31/20/31 ivs.

Chain fishing is probably your best bet. I chain fished a shiny horsea on Diamond when I was trying to find a dragonscale.

Right, I'm now trying the "Masuda Method" which greatly increases the odds of hatching a shiny.

After several hours of trading I've now managed to get my hands on a Japanese Protean Froakie... and after an hour or so of ditto hunting I've managed to snag myself a Naive Ditto.

Which now means I'm going to be giving away loads of Naive Protean Froakies if anybody is interested :D I'm assuming Naive is the best nature available? as speed will be needed as soon as the previous generation pokemon start flooding in.

EDIT: looks like only about 80% of them are coming out with Protean, I hope to god I don't get a shiny Torrent Froakie...

My 3ds xl is being RMA'd today due to the screen dust issue that others have had with the Ltd Edition XY consoles.

Hoping to get a replacement soon as so I can get playing again :).

I had my 3DS XL repaired by Nintendo just as Pokemon X/Y came out so I ended up missing the first week of the game, now the same issue is happening again. I'm so angry about this, this will be another 10 days of downtime..if I'm lucky (and I'm not).

Greatly enhances but it's still very low. How longs is your patience and how many chains or eggs are you prepared to breed?

Naive is only the best if you split your attack and want to use both special and physical attacks.

Otherwise timid or jolly would better. If you wanted purely physical or sp attack croakie.

Well I've bred about 50 or so now and 80% of them are Protean Froakies. Only another 1300 or so to go right? :D

Kind of .. I mean I got lucky with my shiny gyarados but honestly I wouldn't even try to breed specifically to get a shiny. I'd just breed the pokemon I want with the right natures and ivs etc if one turns uo shiny then great.. that way less room fir wasted time and dissapointment.

The masuda method works if the ditto is japanese, right? It doesn't really matter, I have japanese and english versions of ditto and most of the pokemon I really like but I'm just wondering.

Yeh, I'm pretty sure it's fine either way!

Just make sure when you're breeding to make the parent with the best nature hold the everstone! ;)
