Moany neighbour - Parking query

It is hardly pathetic if the neighbours wife cant drive/park for toffee is it .

Dear Lord !

If someone made you drive through an alley that had only 2 inch gap on each side everyday, I'm sure you'd get annoyed.

Afterall, it's doable ....just brush up on your driving skill.

OP needs to take the bus as his house wasn't designed for car owners.

Why did you move somewhere with insufficient parking space?

Did you just think "oh screw anyone else, I'll park where I please", without any consideration that your property isn't designed for multiple cars.

what a stupid post lol
maybe its all he could afford at the time etc etc
not everyone can live where they want

There's more background to this which I haven't gone into, he's not a very nice person and him and his next door neighbour are involved in a bigger dispute with our adjacent neighbour. We've expressed to all parties we want nothing to do with it and to leave us out of it, I suspect this more recent request has something to do with the bigger argument.

at one point him and the other neighbour on his side were purposefully blocking the turning bay which only affects our property and our adjacent neighbour yet was out shouting at anyone else who did this including my 82yr old grandmother. As such whilst I try and remain civil with the guy I have no interest in putting myself out for him. Oh and his wife drives their car once in a blue moon...

As to why we bought, all the properties in the estate bar a very small number only have one bay or a driveway for one car. We liked the area and estate so we bought it, up till now as we have stayed out the other dispute it's not been an issue for us (we've been here more than 2yrs) and this is the first time he's brought it up.

newbuilds are utter ***** or this at times.

I think the problem is just down to people's parking ability.

When we got out place we paved the front garden, i can get four cars on there and it means day to day our two cars arnt parked on the road.

Parking is quite tight where we are (narrow road so people only park on one side) but people park so selfishly considering the people who park on the road are in the same boat.

Outside my house there is space on the road to park two cars comfortably but youll get a **** who parks in the middle of both spaces making parking even more of a premium

Its even more annoying when someone parks across both spaces but another **** chooses to tack themselves onto the end covering half of my dropped curb. If you really like ill just leave my two cars on the road and make everything harder for you?

There is no sense at all

As far as visitors parking goes.....

We live in a fairly recent new build estate and have a similar issue. There is a bay which fits 6 cars for visitors although now and again neighbours will park their second cars in it for a short time but mostly it lies empty. Yet even when empty, visitors insist on parking directly opposite peoples drives causing issues with getting into your own drive as the road is very narrow as with most new build streets. It's weird that no one uses the visitors parking area, it's obviously down to a combination of stupidity and ignorance.

I have a mate who had a massive issue with his neighbour parking a third car directly opposite his drive, a Nissan Navara that the guy used for work. My m8 tried to reason with him but was basically told to 'eff off and mind your own business, I'll park where I want'.

So what my buddy did was buy an 'X' reg Mondeo estate which was fully road legal and parked it in the place the bloke usually parked the Navara. To finish off the just dessert he put signs in the window saying 'I never drive this car, it's only here to annoy Tam at number 39'. :D

Sounds like this could get a bit worse after that last post mate.
Remember any disputes need to be disclosed if any of them try to sell their properties.
just sounds like a daft old man now mate, ignore the clown lol

Did the neighbour make any suggestion for where else you might park?
As if 4 houses have 6 bays, do they as in him and her have two cars.
If they do maybe she would consider parking where your wife parks, so she can easily drive off, and let your wife have the 'awful struggle' of parking in the space.

Perhaps they only had one car to begin with?

Regardless, it's not really your place to question his living arrangements and it certainly doesn't help him any.

I drive big work vans through smaller gaps all the time so I don't need to brush up on my skills .

If someone made it that way then yes I would get annoyed . His wife is not making it that way for the neighbour , her lack of skills are hard to get out the space .

Things like this are why parking 'facilities' if you would call it that were high on our list of priorities when moving, discounting nice enough houses in good areas as the parking situation would just be a nightmare.

Whilst most new build estates are terrible for this they aren't all bad. Our new one was designed to ensure that all cars should be parked off road with the majority of the houses having at least 2 car driveways.

Looking forward to our decent drive and garage when we finally move in :)

So you're not bothered that you're inconveniencing someone else just so you can park selfishly?Erm

You've said he's old and his wife struggles and you're being so pathetic as to suggest S long as it's not illegal, that's fine then.

Dear lord.
Erm

Pictures / street view would help.

If it was me I wouldn't want to park on the road and would splash the cash to get a proper driveway sorted. One day I bet that old woman just drives in to one of your cars then denies it then you'll be spending money getting that fixed.

It's quite poor that there is only 1 bay per house, we live on a new build and the spaces are long enough to fit two cars in (albeit with a lot of shuffling about early in the morning on different work schedules).

IIRC planning laws state new dwellings must have "1.5 parking bays" per dwelling as well as some kind of provisions for cycle racks!

Mad paint skills bro..

Neighbour in question is number 3, we stay in number 4.

House number 1 has no car but owns the parking space. House number 2 has 2 cars, one of which is nearly always in one of the Visitors bays. House number 3 has 2 cars (our neighbour) but has slabbed part of his front lawn and parks one of the cars on there as it only gets very light use, he has no dropped kerb and puts a plastic ramp down to get it in/out. We (House 4) have 2 cars, I park in our bay and my girlfriend normally parks on the kerb outside opposite number 3's bay. House number 5 has 2 cars and normally one is always in the visitors bay.

The cul-de-sac road is wide enough for 2 cars to drive past each other comfortably. The turning bay is there to enable us and house number 5 + users of the visitors bays to reverse into their spaces.

So is parking space number 1 always empty then? Either try and have a word with them to see if you can use it, park in the visitor bay (this might upset the other neighbours that use it though), drop your kerb like the complaining neighbour has or continue where you are.
