Is my 6 year old Enermax Infinity 650W enough for a 290X?

I would say go for Evga.
I have my 750w psu from them and I love it.
I had it for almost a year and I never heard its fan spinning - ofc it was workin, I checked.
And that warranty terms...
Overclockers had those on sale not to long ago.
And for 90£ or so for 750w model. There is a 1000w one for 150£ as well and 2 more haswell compatible models at 1200 and 1300w. All are '80+ gold' full modular.
Really nice cables. Mine have black for system and red for gpu ( 8+6 pin ), so perfect for 290x.

The CX600 IS a Seasonic, iirc

No it isn't. Seasonic only make the AX760, AX860 and HX650 units now and i expect them to be replaced by a cheaper manufacturer soon. The original CX400w unit was a Seasonic build but then after they built their reputation on solid built units cheaped out and switched to cheaper OEM's while keeping the prices high. The CX units are now made by CWT and are little more than a budget psu with cheap internals which are inferior to the original.

For a list of who makes what see here.

The CX600 is excellent on reviews though despite not being Seasonic. That's my point.

They are not all bad regardless of not being Seasonic.

I would bet odd on fave that it will be fine and dandy.

But it is a bet :) could go wrong!

I'm sure the Enermax wouldn't take any other components out with it if it did though.

Is it actually dangerous to use my Enermax with a new GPU? Is it possible to kill other components?

It is safe as it has good safety features (it was still a good unit when released and wasn't a cheap nasty product) to help prevent damage to other parts.

Awesome, thanks.

It does have another awesome feature, not sure if it is a standard in modern PSU's, after I shut down the PC every fan in the case including GPU/CPU fans keep spinning for a couple minutes until everything is really cool. It is supposed to prolong the hardware's life :)

Edit: Found the feature I'm talking about, it's called CoolGuard
