mega storms uk next week

Hmm, now I'm not so chuffed that I live 30 seconds walk from the sea. I think I'd prefer to sleep through the whole thing but as that probably won't happen maybe I'll do the opposite and watch it from the beach...

Wonder how bad I'll cop it?
I wouldn't go for any long walks.....
There is some continuing uncertainty in the timing, intensity and track of the low. However, the public should be prepared for the risk of falling trees as well as damage to buildings and other structures, bringing disruption to transport and power supplies
I bet we get hit by this during the night.

Got some quite heavy rain going on here at the moment, on and off, come on suddenly

Do I buy my boat now, or over the weekend?

apparently they are forcasting 43mph winds around 16:00, is this bad? which will later calm down, then heavy rainfall in the evening

Rain is seriously coming down now

Id be surprised if I dont hear a bit of thunder in a second

WRF 9k showing 30 knots gusting 40 in most mid-west coast areas. Yes it'll be very windy but hardly a "mega storm"

Perfect weather to take the 5m kite out :)

ok edit: Yea I wouldn't want to be on south coast. Up to 60knots/70mph, probably due to venturi effect between England and France.

"mega storms uk next week" = it's going to be a bit windy and rainy in the southern 1/3 of England.

Okaaayy then....as you were.

Sky News weather presenter Jo Wheeler said: "The storm is coming through at the worst possible time; from around midnight to midday on Monday - which takes in the rush hour when people are trying to get to work.

BBC urging people not to go for walks in wooded areas.

Next up, BBC urging people not to carry upright scaffolding poles on to hill tops.

Where would we be without civil protection? :D

Odd weather is odd.. No walks in woods? Oh well im off to alton towers so that would be a shame ;D

Alton about a mile away from alton towers theme park.. Weather is totally different! Rain in one place sunshine in the other :')

Ill deal with it on monday when it arrives

This is serious, we need some sort of national guard to help us through emergencies like this.

Where is the red cross? Unicef? The UN? Defra? STOP THIS MADNESS!! We need a humanitarian intervention NOW!

Anyone else barricading a room up?

I think tomorrow night I will move the family into the bathroom, mainly for the water supply and toilet. The one slight issue is that if a tree in our garden uproots, it could well smash the bathroom window, so im going to stuff mattresses in front of that.

Tablets, phones and Laptops will be fully charged and bought in so we can at least keep up to date with the situation. Car has a full tank in case we have to evacuate, plus ive loaded it with provisions.... some fruit, liquids, dry food etc

You are very wise, hopefully the rest of the forum takes into heart your shining example of how to prepare for such situations.

We will get through this lads, but please take extreme care and prepare accordingly.
