Batman Arkham Asylum & City both just converted to Steamworks only

I'll give you that :D... although the application seems to be specific to Arkham City (unless I misread), and for me at least I'd rather do it manually than trust a program from some random guy (see what I did there ;)) who could just be capitalising on a topical issue (like the infamous gibtuxpls script which did the rounds during the TF2 Linux penguin promotion) </tinfoilhat>

Good point. Lets hope this thing hasn't seeded my PC with a trojan. I am sure it is safe because some other Steam dudes confirmed it worked (and of course the standard virus scans were carried out).

EDIT: Also, the comments on the guy's Youtube video showing how to use it are pretty heartening :)

EDIT 2: Another thread was created on Steam for the Patcher: http://steamcommunity.com/app/200260/discussions/0/810938810707303888/. Should hopefully provide confidence there are no trust issues with the app :)

Thanks for the save conversion, if it wasn't for your guide, I would never have finished BAC.:)

I'm the type of bloke that installs loads of games and plays some of a title then drop it and come back two months later, I hate with a passion having to replay games over again to get to where I was-here's looking at you GFWL when you do a reinstal an OS/system and then have to start from scratch-but thank the stars it's nothing but a bad dream now.

Glad you got it working :D I'd love to be able to take full credit for it but I learned about it myself from the Steam Community hub - I reworded the instructions a little bit because when I followed the guide on there I found the wording slightly unclear

Uninstalled. Redownloaded. Try launching the game and it just crashes instantly with no error messages.
Seems none of the games that have had GFWL work at all any more on Steam for me now. What an utter waste of bandwidth.

Don't even get a smegging error message to try and troubleshoot the damn thing

Glad with this news, Microsoft wanted me to pay full whack for it again because my windows 8 sign in made a new gfwl profile and used up the key I did ask if it could be transfered they told me go buy the game again to fix it

Yeah it ****ed me off so I didn't bother playing the game at all my gfs cousin did. Its annoying as the Xbox app on windows 8 doesn't let u log in different emails don't know with 8.1 but didn't before so I had to make sure the gfwl app was signed into my proper 360 account

Nah same here bud i have tried mine 3 or 4 times since my ac updated on steam but still getting invalid code for aa.

Yeah, same here... Guys, are we SURE that they are gonna fix this, eventually? Or is it possible that our retail copies will become paperweights???

For those having problems actually getting the game to run you can browse to the SteamApps folder and then the game folder and then try running the exe. This worked for me as when clicking play it would just do nothing.

The bad things about these titles are that when you loose internet connectivity it kicks you out of the game straight away - no time to save, etc. which is very, very annoying. Surely they've seen the effect that Humble Bundle and GoG are having with DRM-free games to find it on a title that's had most of the DRM removed is damn annoying.

Splash screen? As in the one with the press start or enter? If it's the one with Batman and the press start screen then I'd give it 10 seconds before pressing start as that was a bug ages ago.

The -nostartupmovies on the shortcut may help but not sure if that's just for Arkham Origins.

Hmmm... a few people seem to suggest that if your retail copy won't activate you may have some luck contacting Warner Bros. support directly and going the "photo of the CD case and manual" and/or receipt route to get them to send you out a code. Can't decide whether I can be bothered to give it a go

Any advice on how to get Arkham City patched up? I just installed it, but I can't connect to GFWL and the activation key won't register on Steam. This is the standard retail DVD version.

edit: Problem solved, I was inputting the activation key wrong (crappy font making Gs look like 6s!)
