Christmas soon as I've been a good boy I'm going to ask him for a new monitor.

Been stuck on a 22" 1080p monitor now for 4 years and I think it's time for a 27" 1440p job.

Too many to pick from and the prices vary so much.

I don't want the best of the best, just something that offers great bang per buck....

What you guys recommend?

Do you prefer matte or glossy?

I love the look of the new Iiyama that OC are selling, it really looks the part. Only downside for some is that it has the glass fronted screen - I like that but many won't.

I would wholeheartedly recommend the Samsung S27b970 as that's what I have right now but you say you don't need the best of the best and it is quite expensive.

For a matte panel I think Viewsonic have a good offering and the Asus Pb27q is a very good monitor for the price.

My current BenQ 22" has a gloss finish..

How deep are Santa's pockets and what apart from overclocking do you use your PC for?

Santa's are not that deep.... My PC is for gaming...... pure and simple....

If you like the gloss finish the Iiyama could be a serious shout. I like the glossy panel a lot because it just makes colours pop and pictures/videos/games look so vibrant.

The one issue is of course reflections. My 'office' is quite small and only has one window which is side on to the desk so when head on with the monitor reflections are not a problem.
