Two BT Vans are at a Cabinet down the road, next to two street cabinets. Both have 'Open Reach' on the side of em.

Does this mean Infinity is coming ? When I put my phone number and address in the infinity checker it says estimated before end of this month.

Ignore the checker, my local exchange date has moved about 4 times in the last year.

The infinity kit is installed in new cabinets close to the existing ones so if the new cab isn't there then nothing's going to happen soon.

Ok I'll see if they put up a new cabinet. *fingers crossed* :D Currently getting 6mb and 1mb upload so I'm well excited for it!

One of the vans is a normal smallish van and the other is one of those short wheel based box vans, the back was open and there was lots of kit in it.

For reference the rfs date for my exchange is the end of the year but the new cabs have been in place for at least 6 weeks.

When they have finished working on it you could email [email protected] with your phone number and ask if they have an Infinity ready for service date for your cabinet.

I've just spoken to someone on live chat and she says that orders will be open from 31st October :D

Go and ask them, seriously.

I'm with Sky but presumably as soon as BT Infinity orders are open Sky's Fibre Optic will be too? Or do Sky have to wait to have something else done at the Cabinet first?

I have to say that BT are ninjas, they managed to upgrade my cabinet without me knowing.

It was pure luck that i checked if i can get it, which i have already checked like 100 times. And it was like yes, so i ordered it immediately

Next morning as i went to the shops and saw a letter from BT, opened it and it said "BT infinity has come to your area" lol.

bah,

it now says estimated between october and november - as opposed to the end of october.

Same is happening with my exchange. Supposedly available on 30th Sep, then 31st Oct.. no doubt come Thursday it'll be 30th Nov.

At 8mb it's not the worst case at the moment, but I'd be willing to shell out the extra once it arrives. Just a waiting game..

If you use twitter then follow @btopenreach (i think it is) they send out updates when they come live. It saves having to check the every other day.

Openreach are a shower of turds.

My exchange had a completion date for fibre orders for March 2012, which they changed to June 2012, then December 2012, then March 2013, then June 2013....

So in June it finally was "accepting orders".... But now my cabinet has been through 3 pushbacks for availability also - June 2013, September 2013 and now it's at December 2013.

The new cabinet has been in place next to the old one for 1 year now and they have dug up the road 2 more times since the cabinet has been there.

And of course, nobody in the entire city has had ANY communication or information at all as to why the pushbacks on the date keep happening. You are just expected to ignore it and put up with it.

Oh, and the 2 guys in my office who can get it, booked their engineers visits for a fortnights time and were both called 2 days before their appointments and said they couldn't do their visit and the next slot they got was 8 weeks later!! So even when my cabinet is active I'm going to have another 2 month wait.

Openreach are a complete and utter joke!

I had an install date for 1pm, took the day off work and sat in the house waiting.

1pm came and went.. so I rang BT who said that there "was an issue with the cabinet.. the job has been cancelled. Hasn't anyone called you? trololololol".

Cue a load of ranting and raving and they gave me 3 months free, once the service went live.

4pm... I get a call on the house phone. "Hi, I'm the engineer and I'm just switching it over now"

:rolleyes::p
