My HD595s have fallen apart - what would be a good replacement?

Thought Id update this thread as unfortunately Im still waiting for my HD595s to be repaired! Been over 10 weeks now, which is a bit more than the 10-15 working days they advise when you buy the service. :p

Ive called them a few times in that period to keep an eye on the repair and tbh I wasnt in a mood to rush them as I knew the headphones were in a state before I sent them so just pleased the service existed (Ive been made aware that Im getting my moneys worth :p). Thought Id warn others so they are aware of the possible timescales as it doesnt seem the form you get sent as confirmation is actually that accurate...

I did complete a negative feedback form a few days ago when I realised how long its been :( - really hope I get them before the PS4 comes out!

Mine got everything done.....basically I think the only thing left from the pair I sent them was some trivial plastic parts!

And yes, it takes some time, parts availability was an issue with my repair it seems.

seems like a good deal for a total refurb ... and seeing as my 598 are my current main cans , I don't mind the wait

I had the hd595 for 10 years or something ..held together with tape as the headband cracked then the ear cup broke off so had to send them back to senns a few months ago for the repair at fixed price £54.....sennheiser didn't repair em just sent me a brand new pair of 598 which was nice.... but I didn't like them as much as my old hd595,,, the new hd598 had way too much midrange for me not enough bass ...didn't sound as fun as my old hd595 ( I know with wear buring in long hours would have been better but sold them and bought the hd650 very happy now .
When I 1st got the hd595 I didn't like them preferred my grados so let them burn in for 100s of hours while listensing to other cans....then I fell in love with the 595 ..I miss them... I had the higher ohm version
The hd595 and hd598 sound different

What was the turnaround on yours swampy - not sure if I would have preferred getting a set of HD598s if it was gonna be a much quicker turnaround. Actually need to chase them next week :(

2 weeks mate and the 598 were sent from Germany...my 595 I miss them.
Lo the repair guys must have had a shock seeing the condition of them lo
The wire was hanging out broken in 3 places on the head band and my ear wax everywhere lol...I didn't like those newer 598 me , hold on to your 595
I saw on senns website aswell you can buy the parts to fix yourself but the cost was about the same as fixed repair plan :9 miss them loads

LOL Ive ran them 4 times over the last 10 weeks :( - guess mine are gonna be miltary grade style fixed - had the same issue as you that one can snapped off at the arm after being one of those silly cracks...

EDIT: I know they been waiting on multiple parts from Germany

10 weeks that's not on ..will be worth it tho if you get your hd595 back tho mate...but bloodly 10 weeks, I found it hard trying to find a tel phone number on there website so just phoned sales or something I did and they put me thru
Hope you get them back soon :)

and another thing don't ever order sennheiser or anything from Simply Electronics!
I ordered some hd650 but canceled my order 2 days later.....5 weeks on im still waiting for my refund worse company ever I should have done some reviews 1st on that company

OK spoke to them today and same story about waiting for earpads and should be with me in a weeks time (told me the same a month ago) - decided to complain and they are going to look to source the pads today otherwise they said theyll offer me the HD598s - not sure if I want to go with that (they are garish, but I can deal with that, just hope they have a similar/neutral soundstage with a bit of bass), though they might have fixed the cracking plastic issue.

They received them on the 16th August so yeah its been a long time!

you can get them earpads from anywhere (well just a few years ago :P) I replaced mine twice from ebay ...really expensive for what they are.
Get them 595 back I say if you really like them .... like me I loved the 595 you get so used to the sound...sounded nice with my old prelude soundcard.
If they send you the hd598 don't open them... sell em on ebay and save up for the hd650 :) ...Its what I did great headphones the hd650 but still miss my 595
Good luck ps3udo

Unfortunately I dont have the equipment to make the hd650s sing - mainly have them connected to my Logitech Z5400 amp for my PC/TV/PS3 usage - its why I plumped for the HD595s in the first place. I need to look into the differences between the 2, but Im open to trying the HD598s as I expect them still to have the neutral Senn sound.

TBH I doubt I use the sources to use the HD595s to their best, I just loved everything about them as had them so long...

Swampy, i have the 598 and just something about them i am not getting along with, cant put my finger on it

do you think the 650 is the next logical step for me ?

Yeah mate I definitely recommend the HD650, I only use them with a Asus Xonar Essence STX soundcard but really like them.. Give them a while to burn in ..get used to them :)
Its the next step in the sennheiser sound but also look check out the hd600 as a lot of people prefer those to the 650s...never heard the 600s me but the 650 supposed to have more bass than the 600s and 600s have more midrange ive read.
But its funny tho I find the hd595 had more kick in the bass lo more of a boom bass fun sound but hd650 have a quality bass ....miles better
Hd598 had too much midrange and far to big soundstage for me.
Really happy with the hd650s :)
Ps if you listen to a lot of heavy rock or metal kind of music look for a different brand ..I find senns not the best for that sort of music
