My wife bought 500 glossy business cards via Vistaprint, used original Illustrator files for the artwork and the quality is fantastic.

Thing is, if you give out loads of card regularly then you have to choose wisely as cost wise it can soon rack up?

+1 for Moo also. Although their business cards are slightly larger than the norm.

Moo or printing.com

I used Moo for personal cards and they are fantastic. We use Printing.com at work and they are almost as good, but far more reasonable as an actual business card you hand out to lots of people rather than "bespoke" ones with photos on the back (great for photographers and designers).

Vista or local place for mountains of cheaper ones to give out like flyers.

Actually, I'm not sure why I'm mentioning Vista at all. Cheap from the local place is far better quality and they do good deals.

I've used aubergine print before and they were ok. 4 colour, double sided, Matt Lam and spot UV included I believe.

I've used http://www.overnightprints.co.uk/ a few times and found them to be excellent. They're actually sent from Germany, so postage is reasonably high, but order reasonable quantities and it's more than made up for by the price. They'll send you a free sample pack too so you can see the quality first.
