Installed windows 8.1 now plagued with issues.

I was having problems with mouse input lag when gaming so I've gone back to 8. Something do to with the new DPI scaling framework in 8.1.

It's adorable that you think you can tell people not to post.

Clearly you've not really understood my post, as I was pointing out the ridiculousness of "it's not worked for me therefore it's broken".

I was telling you not to post if you couldn't say something intelligent. You find it that hard to understand?

In response to Easyrider, I am using Chrome and Firefox on all 3 of my windows 8.1 upgrades, I've had no software issues.

Better response.

No problems with my gs2 (or gs4) or chrome with 8.1 here. Dont know what to suggest, but i'd be pointing the finger at samsung (because we all know how good kies is, right?) and chrome because its....well, it's chrome.

After installing windows 8.1 chrome doesn't connect to the net properly.(all over the web the issue has been reported)

if you have mcafee go to the firewall settings and change chrome from "full" to "outgoing" - seems to have stabalised my chrome since i did it.

Numerous BSOD restarts

I had this problem when i updated to windows 8.1 from windows 8. I refreshed my laptop back to windows 8. That stopped the errors, i did however install an "optional" windows update and i started getting the errors again, after uninstalling the update i stopped getting them.

This was the offending update

Update for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KB2883201)

If you have it, uninstall it and see how you get on

Something will have broken during the migration, after all it's practically a full os upgrade.

I had terrible problems when I updated a mature install to 8.1 preview, a fresh install fixed the issues.

It can be down to drivers or 3rd party software, there's no depends.

What I'd do is get an 8.1 iso and install with that. The 8.1 release is a bit of a shambles tbh. Anyone who blindly defends the upgrade procedure (and lack of standalone update) is a massive fanboi

Service packs have always been potential game enders. A fresh install is always great, but I've seen countless machines goosed from installing a service pack.

Win8.1 seems to have problems with browsers, I've had firefox and ie11 crashing so far.
I just d/loaded IE10 just in case this 11 gets too ****ed up by me. So far I have disabled Adblock+ (Simply because WIN8 and AV's in general don't get on well.
Also going into IE settings and turning off "Use Microsoft compatability views" has helped people, Windows 8.1 and Google don't get on apparently.
Aslo I have noticed that when running Steam, IE 11 crashes a lot, there's error messages in admin events viewer saying tcpip error, windows is throttling connections as you are too greedy, basically. I think maybe windows is having problwems organising our internet use, I have a hunch this tis the main problem with win8 and browser crashes.
Don't ask me how I know, I don't know you see. I am making an educated guess :D

easyrider certainly comes across to me as someone who generally knows what they are talking about in other threads so saying it's PEBKAC is not actually very smart. It is well documented that some people are having issues with 8.1, so if you don't have anything useful to say, do not post.

I was building and configuring computers when spoffle was sucking on mothers teat mate:p

Water off a ducks back:)

I doubt it's pebkac, but if your having problems, probably time to bite the bullet and back up data etc... and fresh install the o.s.

Going to do this.

I'm running enterprise...Think I'm going to just do a complete new install of windows pro 8.1 Not that will make any difference :p

I'm havign problems but of a different nature.

Creative sound drivers and 8.1 GRRRR noticed the problem in 8.1 pre release but it was fixable becuase the Recon 3D interface worked, Now it doesn't work in 8.1 so i can't turn of the setting that is making my sound surround in some games.

Its fine aslong as you don't install the drivers which i stupidly did really CBA to roll back to 8 to reinstall 8.1 grrr just means I can't watch anything on VLC/media playeras they both are effected by this. youtube is fine and spotify is fine so it's some sort of codec issue.

I'm sticking with 8 for now, I have tried upgrading to 8.1 three times now and every time I restart the system after install I get the error message "System_Service_Exception" and the system just keeps restarting and I have to use safe mode just to get into Windows, I have tried disabling all non windows programs including antivirus in msconfig and still get the error, I tried upgrading from a fresh Windows 8 install without any additional programs like antivirus installed only Windows 8 compatible chipset and LAN drivers to get internet access and still get the same error.

It would be helpful if it gave more information in the error message as to the cause, the only thing I can think is causing the issue is the chipset and LAN drivers as they are they are the only things I installed but they are the latest versions and obviously need to be installed so there's nothing I can do about that.

Firefox has been rock stable for me,mind you I did a clean install of Win8.1 RTM updated with latest Windows updates, btw I know some Nvidia drivers had issues ie Firefox freezing etc....latest ones seem fine however.

End of the day its been very solid for me in gaming and general use.
