Needing some more graphical power than the MSI GTX 660 TwinFrozr III OC 2GB card for my fiancees upcoming new PC build I have been offered two Asus HD7970 3GB cards complete with boxes and invoices (from April 12th 2012) for £286
http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/HD79703GD5/

Should I jump then gun and take them ? I think it seems like a fair price . Originally were were looking on a Sapphire R9-280 Toxic OC card or the upcoming R9-290(non-x).

I'm close to saying yes, but if it's a bad idea I wont.

I can tell the upcoming specs are MSI X79A-GD45 Plus, 16GB G.Skill Ares 1866MHz, Core i7 3820, Antec Kühler 920. She has a Coolermaster GX 750 which we are going to reuse in the Fractal Define R3 case.

x2 7970 for £286, I would say get em

+1
What Saitex said.

Gripen get the cards, overclock them and laugh at everyone who's going to spend double the money for less performance with the GTX780/R9 290X/TITAN
( or equal performance with 7990)

After reconsidering the 7990 offer @ £400, I though at £260* my 7950s @1100/1550 are more than enough. And they are quiet also under load. (the H100 with 4 fans makes more noise tbh).

*both, after selling the games

Thanks for your opinions all of you - very much appreciated ;) :D

I went ahead and said yes to the offer ! this should make the wife a happy gamer for the next 2 years or so :)
