Thailand/Cambodia/Vietnam/S.E. Asia. 2 weeks, where to go?

I'm seriously thinking about going to S.E. Asia at the end of November. My brother stays in Siam Reap so I'd see him but I have no idea where else to go. I've never really thought much about the area, but flights are quite cheap and I thought I may aswell!

I imagine it would be easiest to fly into Bangkok (Emirates, via Dubai) but I'm not sure where else I should go.

So, must haves for the region please?

I'll be by myself a fair bit, but I'm thinking hostels & just chatting to folk rather than hotels and nice restaurants.

I'd be going between the 24th Nov - 10th December.
 
I've posted in the Lonely Planet one a wee bit, but it's clunky and it's not particularly active! If there was a good, active, travel forum I'd be all over it. Maybe I should make a thread about travel forums? ;) :p

The site I linked has a active forum. Post in the destination you're interested in.
 
2 weeks isn't very much time. I spent 3 months and still have places I want to see! I'd just pick one or two places, then add any others you're considering to you 'to do' list.

What sort of things are you looking for? Cities? Beaches? Jungles? History? Nightlife?

If it was me, I'd spend probably fly into Bangkok as you say, spend a couple of days there, catch the overnight train down to Surat Thani (or fly to Phuket) and catch the ferry over to Ko Tao to spend the rest of the time diving and sun bathing. Bliss.

Head to the New Heaven dive resort if you want a great place to learn AND the eco work they do is fantastic. In fact I'd just do 2 weeks of marine conservation there (again!).
 
I dont think 2 weeks will be enough. I was in Thailand only for 3 weeks and that was not enough.
 
I'm on my way to Thailand now for two weeks. Currently sat waiting in Doha for my next flight.

Will let you know how I get on. :)
