Hi all

I'm currently running CPU Q8300 @ 2.50ghz, 4gb ram, GeForce GTX 460, Corsair CX 430W ATX, SATA HDD.

I need something better that can handle LoL perfectly fine. I do play some other games occassionally with SC2 probably being the most demanding, but I don't need to handle it on very high settings with max fps.

Max priority is a flawless experience of LoL and a stable machine :)

Any input is very valuable; planning on ordering today from OCUK.

Thanks

As above, What's your budget? are you happy building yourself or are you looking for a pre-built system? Anything you want/would like to salvage from your old setup?
What monitor / resolution are you currently using?

Lots of answers and questions, thank you very much so far!

Motherboard is MCP73PVT-PM which is a couple of years old and quite budget I believe.
Monitor: BenQ G2222HDL 21.5" (max and current resolution 1920 x 1080)

I haven't built my own computer since 1999 but shouldn't be an issue. As long as it's hassle free and parts will definitely be compatible, I'm happy to build it, but a bit worried there might be issues. I have more money than time, I suppose. Thinking of spending maybe £500-600, should be enough..

The problems I'm having are related to smooth games in LoL. Some games are fine and perfectly stable at 60 FPS but too often, I find myself in huge waves of lags every teamfight, and the game is simply not smooth. A certain game mode (ARAM) is even worse. This is at medium settings.

I have been troubleshooting for some time, with help from their support, and given up on it. Done "everything" and now (trying older drivers, uninstalling, tweaking settings, turning off everything else, getting rid of antivirus, resolutions, graphic settings) I just want to sort it out once and for all. Playing LoL is pretty much my only hobby outside of work so I don't mind spending money on making it work, rather than tamper with the frustration.

Edit: I've played LoL for 2 years on very high settings, it's just the recent months it has performed very poorly.

Hows about this? Its a little above budget, but easily kept in budget by removing the case and cooler, if your current case won't support the H100i

I play LoL but on a rig with an R9 280X ... it's silly FPS. SSD helps with load times IMMENSELY!

Thanks daveip! Based on the above I shaved off a bit of money to get a similar build with the key upgrades.
- SSD
- 4gb to 8gb ram
- From geforge gtx 460 to gtx 660 (this was useful)

In other words I might pick up this with more RAM, SSD and the best available graphics card for a total of £500 unless there is a more clever alternative. Aiming to order as soon as possible so any last input is very valuable :) No need to replace the monitor.

Oh, quick noob question, is there any point in getting another copy of windows 7 or could I easily duplicate my current installation?

If you don't have time to build that would be fine I guess... You wouldn't need a better GPU than what you have though. My missus has a GTX 460 in her machine and it plays LoL with ease. However the 7850 is a very nice GPU if you did fancy an upgrade!

Certainly get an SSD, they are a god send!

8GB RAM is a nice amount for gaming too.

Providing W7 isn't attached to the mobo then shouldn't be a problem.
