Which would you pick and why?

so the background is i recently bought a coolermaster hyper 212 which is ace.

i then won a new case (see my build log) the issue is the 212 is too tall for the new case :(

now looking at the specs of the case the max height is 152mm.

i was thinking either H100 in the top of the case.

or

the H80/620 in the front of the case coupled with a 120->140 adapter. as the case has 140mm fan holes on the front.

I'd pick the H100i. Better than H100, test winner out of 240mm rads available in the UK.

The H80 has a short hose, so it probably won't reach the front. I don't know about the 620.

but the 100i is double the price but only a few % cooler.

max cost of about £50 i'd be looking at.

It would be handy to see proper reviews comparing them all for performance, you get a few comparisons together but never seem to get very many

the 620 is alright, use it myself keeps my 4.6ghz @ 72c gaming. but If I had the money it would either be a custom loop kit like the xspc raystorm 750 or the H100i (better made than the h100)

You're right, performance may not be that significant, but what you're really getting from the H100i is the Corsair Link feature. The ability to monitor hardware temps and be able to customize fan speed, LED, etc.. depending on your preference. So both coolers are equally great in terms of cooling, its just that extra bells and whistles the H100i carries in the baggage is the one that separates it from the H100.

Ahh cool thanks. Good to get an opinion from someone in the know.

Looking to get one for my Battlebox rig build. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18552535

Should look good in the top of it.

how do the fans work on the H100?

im assuming the standard 2 fans fit into the connections on the side of the cpu block. but if doing a push/pull config where do the other fans connect too? a molex splitter?

Well you connect them where-ever you want depending on the fans :)

Fan controller, Molex splitter etc. does not matter.. just run them slightly faster then the stock fans so you can be sure they do not "restrict" the airflow of the other fans. PWM fans can be controlled by the mobo, for others they will need to have a speed switch or be run at full all the time.. or be plugged into a fan controller.

cool thanks. will have to be a molex splitter then.

Don't you still have to buy the Corsair Link as a seperate kit to make use of that though? Or are you saying that the kit comes with it? (Just curious, but also interested to know aswell)..

i believe it has a cable included that you plug into the mobo usb header or usb port, that plugs into the h100i block and you get the software to control it with it/online

well i ordered the standard H100 in the end. in not so bothered about bells & whistles.

thats everything for my rig ordered now (minus a gpu which will have to wait until i have the spondoolies)
