Another one due...

http://videocardz.com/47420/nvidia-updates-geforce-gtx-780-ghz-edition

NVIDIA has not only been working on a new flagship – GeForce GTX 780 Ti, but also on a new GTX 780 GHz Edition, which is cheaper (at launch) and faster than current model.

The so called GTX 780 GHz (Edition) is based on B1 revision of GK110-300 GPU. This is more efficient variant of A1 stepping, clocked at 1006/1046 MHz. The new GPU is said to provide better overclocking potential and, at the same time, lower power consumption.

NVIDIA will not release any reference model, this GPU only will be available from AIBs, most likely with custom cooling solutions.

Guys from Expreview already reviewed a sample of Inno3D’s GTX 780 GHz iChill Edition. This card is equipped with HerculeZ X3 Ultra triple fan cooler. Card is running at 1006/1048/1552 MHz for base, boost and memory respectively. It is equipped with 3GB GDDR5 memory.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 GHz models are expected to cost slightly above current GTX 780 cards.

Think I going to wait another couple of weeks before deciding what to buy.

It's all changing so quick at the moment, will wait for the dust to settle.

I'm waiting for someone to make a "mocking comment" about making GHZ editions of old cards that are basically the same thing.. Maybe with buffed VRM's.

.. :p

Eh, no difference compared to lightning, hof, glh, classified then?

It's like nVidia just snap's their fingers and brings out another card. Effortless.

As nicnik said its not new just another version of an existing card but the advertising still works on some. Not only that but the Inno3D "ghz" edition is the same version OC's have for sale. Just marketing, but it helps when your clientele are so gullible :D

Really is a reverse of the 7970 VS 680 situation, where the 7970 was faster but clock to low at stock. Nvidia know the 780 is faster when clocked, so a simple 780 Ghz bios and voila faster than the 290X. People who know about overclocking know this already, but this is good for people who just see 'stock' VS 'stock' and think one is better.

Nice shiny new bios then, for GTX 780 owners if they choose to go that route and have their very own GHZ edition :D

i dont think its just bios if they are running much cooler, unless they are pointless results without the same cooling

is it replacing or just adding to the lineup tho?
its getting a bit crowded up there for nvidia

Just out of interest which advertising would that be, all we have seen so far is one article from one website, nothing official from Nvidia at all.
If they market this as a new card then I would totally agree with you, but if they just introduce the newer GPU into existing cards and no more is said then I see nothing wrong with that.

NVIDIA are just playing AMD game...

AMD R9 290x is overclocked to 1000mhz out the box to beat the GTX 780
So NVidia is just copying AMD by overclocking there GTX 780 to 1000mhz

I would do the same thing if I was running NVidia ;)

Nvidia have it sewn up. Unfortunately for AMD the 290 series is too little too late

nvidia have been ahead on hardware for a while now, they need to be pushed.
if AMD wasnt around it would be a much more gloomy christmas for us all!

when gigabyte and msi put some coolers on their cards im sure they will compete :)

Oh I agree. If anything I want AMD to be more competitive to drive prices down even more.

I agree but its a bit annoying that probably as soon as the aftermarket coolers hit it could make so much difference.

yep and all them reviews already out there saying they way too hot putting people off buying, if they had released with partner coolers all getting under 70c it would have got no negative reviews at all.

terrible marketing, but i guess they felt they couldnt wait any longer, the 290 with a msi cooler, its going to be a great card i think

still its shook things up and thats good for us :)
