Assassins creed Which one to buy?

I have only played the first Assassins creed years ago looking to get back into series which one would you recommend buying first? apart from the Assassins creed 1.

Follow them in order would be my advice or you miss out on a lot.

Some parts are good. It just takes too long to get going.

The Ezio story is still my favourite though.

Still need to go back and finish Brotherhood. I liked this series even if they stopped really innovating
