try and continue Dark Souls, or start Dragons Dogma dark arisen

I personally wouldn't use a shield with a two hander. It's been a while since I played so can't remember if using a shield+two hander gimps your attack or not. Give it a try if that's your thing, trial and error :)
Death is the worst that can happen!

ahh Sen's Fortress....damn i hate those swinging scythes! Take a whole bunch of arrows with you...:D If my memory isnt failing me i believe you can find a spear in a treasure chest in there...maybe the lightning spear or even the Demon spear (very good)

Use both type of shields (parry and block)..depends on the enemy. What shield have you got now? Ohh have you explored Blighttown? Some nice gear in there

^ Yeah, its the Lightning Spear. If memory serves me, it is a bit out of the way, but easily worth it for Sen's Fortress!...very handy for the narrow walkways, and it destroys those Serpent guards(and it isn't bad going onwards tbh, on my first playthrough, I used it for ages)

Cheers guys this is mentioned in my guide i think so ill track that down and give it a whirl!

Ive done all of blight town and picked up a fair amount of items there, as for shield currently using hollow soldier shield +10 and one handing a claymore which i now dont think is the best idea? Wondering if its worth upgrading some other weapons to try out before going further in to Sens

My favourite weapon depends on my build really, but some of my favourites are....

Great Scythe
Balder Side Sword
Uchigatana
Butcher Knife
Reinforced Club
Demon's Greataxe

I'll normally swap between a few of them during a playthrough, as I'll upgrade each of them down a different path (Fire, Lightning, Divine) to make sure I'm well prepared for whatever area I'm in.

Good stylish fast-ish weapon for taken em down in style

As for shield? Did you get the dragoncrest shield? (increased fire resist) or crest shield? (crest shield slow stamina regen)

i go with uchigatano/iato

black knight sword (its a drop i think)

Demon spear
furysword (because it looks awesome)
Another sword i forget maybe dark sword and gear

The shield with the stamina regen is the Grass Crest Shield, found in Darkroot Basin. One of my favourite shields, especially if I'm 2 handing a weapon as the stamina regen is very handy.

I also keep (and upgrade) the Dragon Crest Shield (for Fire defence), the Crest Shield (Magic), Spider Shield (Poison/Toxic) and the Silver Knight Shield (Physical/Lightning) if I can get it to drop. Just like weapons I like having the right shield for the right occasion :)

Edit: I'll also use the Cracked Round Shield if I'm using the Red Tearstone Ring as it lets me control how much damage I take so the ring activates when I want it to.

Nice info thanks

Ive got the crest shield but not grass crest yet

I find using 2 handed i just get my ass handed to me but i really prefer that style i think, any tips on surviving using a 2 hander or is it a case of swapping a shield out, block, then go 2 handed to attack as was mentioned above?

If you're 2 handing you have 2 options really - learn to dodge like a boss, or do as you suggest and block with a shield and then swap back to 2 handed. On the rare occasions I use a 2 handed weapon, what I normally do is use a smaller shield like the Heater Shield, and parry the opponent. While they're in the parry animation, you have enough time to switch to 2 handed, and still get the parry in. It takes practise obviously to get good at parrying, but it's definitely worth persisting with as you can take out some of the more powerful enemies in no time that way.

Thanks :) im still struggling with parry but i do keep trying im using a medium shield though so i think the window of opportunity is smaller

Saying all this im really enjoying the range of the lightning spear and being able to jap while still holding up a shield is nice

That's why I use the Heater shield, as even though it is a medium shield with 100% physical block, it has the same parrying window as a small shield :)

Ooo may try this then! I just checked where to get the grass crest shield! Seems easy to reach from firelink so will go there after sens fortress!

I will make him my bitch :) am i right in thinking fast travel becomes available at some point?
Yes. After you progress through Sen's Fortress you'll get to an area called Anor Londo. When there, you'll eventually meet the bosses of the level, Executioner Smough and Dragonslayer Ornstein. When you beat them, you'll meet someone who gives you an item you can use to fast travel between the majority of bonfires (but not all of them). You have to have found and lit the bonfires to travel to them though.

Just before the boss in Sens you'll come to a room with 2 hanging cell cages. You can enter one of them and it'll take you down to the very first bridge you crossed when you arrived in the Fortress, unlocking a nice shortcut for you :)
