Hi all,

Neither are in stock here atm, but I'm wondering which, basically, is best?

750w is plenty of power for my coming new build (i7, single gpu) but pricewise the 2 PSUs are identical (other places, I've found the Antec more expensive).

The Antec I think is the recently released unit, is it appreciably better than the OCZ?

The OCZ has been around for a few years, seems to get good reviews, so I suppose is proven quality.

I have the ocz zx850w gold psu!! For me it has been a quality piece of kit!! Can not fault it apart from cable a bit short for a full tower build!! I'm sure there are better power supplies released since though!!

Buy newer, has to be better right??

If you're talking about the Antec High Current Pro 750W, then it isn't that new, the first reviews for the series first show up at the very end of 2010.

Whereas the first reviews for ZX series seem to show up in early 2011.

The HCP 750 is definitely superior IMO.

Hmm, can I ask, in what way is the Antec superior to the OCZ?

I was thinking of the HCP Gold unit, wouldn't either that or the OCZ gold unit be better than the high colour gamer one, since the antec high current gamer is bronze?

The HCP is a Delta OEM, as has been mentioned. They are just a better manufacturer than Great Wall, who make the OCZ. Delta use better quality components which results in tighter power regulation and usually longer life span.

85% vs 92% efficiency on a 650 watt load, you're looking at a saving of about £10.50 a year assuming 4 hours a day.

If you're only running a single GPU you wont be using anything like 650 watts :)

Out of those two the Antec anyday. Personally i wouldn't touch OCZ now. If they go under, which it looks like they may, you will have no warranty.

OCZ are struggling finanically, and they use 'Great Wall' as the OEM for the ZX range.

Antec use Delta for the HCP.

Delta are premium.
Great Wall are anything but 'great'.

Thanks all, Antec it will be then.

This is to go in a HAF X case, so I imagine it'll be ok size wise (I'll check ofc though).

You'll be fine in a HAF!!!

I just didn't plan size of PSU before buying it and had already committed to a Bitfenix Prodigy build :p

What GPU are you looking at using as in most cases 550w will be ample.

Antec on special at the moment:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Seasonic G series 550w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £79.99
1 x Seasonic S12II 520W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £59.99
1 x Antec High Current Gamer 520W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £55.99
Total : £208.57 (includes shipping : £10.50).

The first on that list would be my pick for a single GPU system. I've got the second one, with retrospect I wish I'd gone for the first as it's modular and the better efficiency makes it cheaper over it's lifetime as well as an extra 5A on the 12V and two 6+2 connectors rather than one and a 6-pin.
