*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

I think you've misunderstood my post I don't care about the lack of CD play back or MP3s or even media streaming. Its a console with the priority of gaming not a media center.

This argument is nonsense; the PS3 is a games console too, yet it has such functionality. It's also pretty clear to anyone that these aren't just dedicated games consoles any more, they're obviously at the forefront of a lot of people's media set-ups and all it means now is that even with a PS4, I'd still need my PS3 connected in order to use it for media playback or else buy a dedicated device at even more expense.

few years ago before dlna enabled smart tv sets, this might have been a big issue, but in 2013, where my Samsung with plex media server does pretty much all my media playback and can accept USB drives and sticks of any size to replay pretty much any media. throw at it, a games console that well, erm plays games at my tv sets max resolution at 60fps is IMO more important then a half baked dlna player like the ps3 had.

Oh right, I didn't realise we all had 2013 model TVs.

I don't see what was half-baked about it either, aside from the obvious lack of MKV support it played nearly everything I've ever thrown at it, be it via a Passport drive or from my NAS.

Shu has been pretty good so far in answering tweets and has promised to look into the MP3 support issue so who knows that may be back in pretty soon.

More game announcements, there is still 10 unannounced 2014 PS4 games isn't there? :D

This is a thread for people who have pre-ordered a £400 (including a game) console, that has next to no exclusive games for it, and frankly apart from the fact of having a 'next-gen' console on release day, it's not that great of an investment.

Therefore, it is fair to say that the majority of us have a high disposable income, and as a result will mostly likely have a new(ish) display upon which to view the glory of 'next gen'.

I shall enjoy playing games on my PS4, through my 50 inch Samsung tv, that I can also plug my USB hard drives into, or stream from my PC to :)

Nonsense to you but not to me! I never used any of the Ps3's extra features at the time as I have a standalone cd player, Blu ray player etc. The lack of those features on the Ps4 really don't effect me neither do they interest me in any way whatsoever as I'm only interested in playing games on it. :)

BS post and a sweeping generalisation.

Pathetic attempt to defend a 2013 400 piece of kit that can't stream or playback your CD collection.

Rant/

Why is it that people only ever seem to care about what THEY want, and always seem to think that because THEY DON'T want something, that others should be OK with that?

Not pointing fingers here as there seems to be a gajillion people responsible for it over this launch.

It goes from 720p vs 1080p, to mp3 playback, to available games.

People have enough information to make informed decisions FOR THEMSELVES! Why do some feel the need to tell others how they should be feeling or what choices they should be making?

/Rant

To be fair I'm sure it's something that the PS4 (and Xbox One) will add over time, maybe even in the next couple of months. I just imagine it's not high on their overall priorities right now.

For example, the 720p thing is the biggest probably.

Why is it that people feel the need to tell others who are still buying an XB One that they are stupid, etc, etc? Because it's weak, rubbish, etc.

People have information now, and if their choice is still XB One, then good on them!

I'm going for PS4 mostly for perfomance, but I wouldn't dream of telling someone who's buying an XB One they are an idiot for doing so...

I don't have an all magical tv that does everything, in fact all it really does is display a picture :p

However I'm not bothered about not playing back CDs or the like, I'm getting a ps4 to game on. Suits me if people are going to have a strop and cancel their orders...more chance of my mate getting his sooner so we can BF4 together :D

****ing hell I thought I would get my new PSN I.D name out of the way as my old one vTANKv has a dead email to it and a forgotten password lol. So after over an hour of trying to find a name that isn't taken I've chosen Acrotomophilia. :D
