Hello folks,

This motherboard has 10 x 6GB connectors, 6 x Intel and 4 x Marvell connectors. Would I be right in assuming that it would be best practice to connect any 6GB HD drives and SSD to the Intel and leaving the Marvell for DVD/RW & Blu-Ray devices

This is a question I have been meaning to ask for quite some time, but not got around to it, until now :o

Many thanks in advance,
Morrile

I thought the rapid storage drivers were only required if you wanted to use an ssd as a cache drive only. I don't think you get better performance from installing them.
Has any one tested this or seen any sites that have tested them? Would be very interested in setting results!

I've been looking into upgrading my current pc lga775 to lga 1150 z87 chipset. during my research I found that a lot of the motherboards with 8 or more sata III port are using two different controllers for them. many of the manuals, forum post etc I've read so far say that six Intel control sata III ports are use for SSD,HDD,OPICAL DRIVE ONLY. the other 2 to 4 sata III port on the other controller are used for storage only. reason being is that the Intel control sata III ports support AHCI, where the controller for the remaining 2 to 4 sata III port doesn't support AHCI.
