Time to replace my first car - £4,500 budget

There's being willing to travel, and then there's driving 9 hours to Slough. :p

I don't think my Astra is up to the trip either really. The thought of driving it 3 hours to Falkirk already has me a little worried.

Edit: And not to miss the obvious, but getting a train or whatever isn't much easier really from here. Plus I intend to trade my Astra in as otherwise I'm left trying to sell the damn thing privately.

True, but then I've still got the hassle of getting down there to see the car without actually being able to drive there myself.

Seen, liked, bought:

Haven't had a good chance to really try it out yet, drove it home from Dunfermline last night but the rain was ridiculous and I'd just come off a week of nightshifts so I was taking it easy. Had a bit of a play today though and liking everything about it so far.

Only thing I am slightly disappointed about really is the audio system, it sounds very good but I completely neglected to check for the MP3 Aux input as I assumed that was standard fit on the Sport. Seems not, as it's just got a 6 CD changer with no MP3 support so I've had to dig out some coasters to play in it for now. I'll look into adding USB or iPod support a bit later down the line, depending on how complicated it is.

Also had a weird problem with none of the electric windows working aside from the driver's one, but seems the system needs to be reset if the battery has been disconnected. Done that and it's all fine.

As often seems to be the case, the colour looks worse in photos than in person, it's much lighter and closer to silver than it appears above.

Pleased you found one in the end.

I've read up on the AUX connection, as I too would want it when/if I come to buy a 3, and it's fairly easy to retrofit. I think the part is only £25. I'm sure the AUX point came as standard though around 2008/2009 end of line models...

Hope you enjoy the car!

Ah that's good, I'll look into it, hopefully it's not an issue with the non-MP3 unit. Been sat out there this afternoon with the manual on my lap figuring out what everything does!

The 08/09 makes sense now you mention it, I did see some 08s that mentioned it in the spec so I'd just assumed it was standard the year before too. Oh well.

Good luck with your search and thanks for all your help, you're in for a treat if you get one. :)
