hi, i was insured with morethan for contents and buildings insurance. i went into my local lloydstsb branch for a financial review and they said they could maybe save me some money on the insurance. so i gave all the details INCLUDING the fact i had made a claim the previous year for a breakin to my integral garage. he came back with a quote that was £15 a month cheaper with the same cover. i questioned him as to how come it was so much cheaper and asked if he had included the claim in the quote. he said he had and that was the price they came back with so naturally i took out the insurance. now it's time to claim and they are saying they have no record of my previous claim and it looks like they will get out of paying. i definately told him about the claim as whats the point in lying as they won't pay out. what can i do? i'm seething

Any record of this convostation with the chap at loyds? if not then why did u inform them when it came to claiming that u had a previous claim?

Did you complete anything in writing or was it done face to face?

They should have at least sent you a proposal to check and sign prior to the inception of the cover which should have had the claim on there.

it was a face to face appointment. i told them about the claim over the phone while i was reporting the claim. i had nothing to hide so i thought

i did all the paperwork on the day .he printed it out and i signed it. i have checked the insurance documents and surprise it says no previous claims. my fault for not checking

That is going to cause you a problem unfortunately.

What were you trying to claim for? Probably going to have to chalk it up to experience and move on.

Put in a formal complaint. Find out who you did business with and also complain to the branch directly.

Do you have the policy with them they just wont pay out cause of this claim? if not ghost insurance possibly?

explain? ghost insurance

It's more for car insurance but they might have done some home insurance also

What is ghost broking?

Ghost broking is the practice of offering customers ridiculously cheap rates for what is in fact fake or fraudulent vehicle cover. Many young drivers are being enticed by deals that seem "too good to be true" - and that is because they are.

You may as well make a complaint as you might not be the only one who this has happened to when arranging cover in that branch.

Worth a go eh?

It isn't exactly a con is it? It's not like Lloyds have conspired to con you out of your money. Clearly there has been an error made.

Depends if it was deliberate or not. He could have simply ticked the wrong box and thought he had said there was a previous claim, or he could have put in no previous claims to drive down the price and get his commission.

Complain and use logic, as you said, if you had lies about it originally why would you then not lie about it for the claim?!
