Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

I take it everyone else is having issues with being disconnected towards the end of each match and losing everything? It's happened 5 times in a row now.

Haven't read throught this thread btw so apologies if this is covered.

Running BF4 on W8.1 and only issues im getting is the sound issue and occasional Battlefield has stopped responding.

Other than that pretty much smooth sailing on 5960 x 1080 res :)

It's Battlefield! If you're counting KDR you're doing it wrong (TM).

I always find in BF games if I play for KDR I get frustrated, if I play for points/objectives I have more fun, and often get a better KDR as well (usually overall lower numbers, but higher score and better ratio).

Obviously, does not apply in TDM

Exactly!

If you only worry about your k/d then you won't do as well imo.

Just play and forget about stats and you will do better!

And it is normal not to do well if you have only just started playing, after 10 hours or so you will get use to and play better, just practice really.

My 3 main tips coming from bf 3 are:

- movement is slower etc. so you can't go charging around corners the same way as you did in bf 3
- know the maps! Most important, I was getting shot from everywhere at first but after playing the maps for quite a while you sort of know where the camp spots are + best ways to go etc.
- die quicker so you really have to get the drop on someone and make sure you have cover and only peak out as much as is necessary

Loving the TV missiles, can finally control them quite well. Annoying that we still have the same bug from bf 3 and bc 2 though, hit the helis and see the smoke but it doesn't register, seriously this has been happening since bc 2 and it still isn't fixed?!?!

m416 is a really good gun.

Loving the magnifier too, superb for those longer distance targets.

HATE the high profile target thing, utterly stupid, at least the box that highlights where you are........

Played commander mode 3 times now and god it is boring! You get decently rewarded if the team work with you but it just feels like an after thought to me and the only good thing is the guided missile, took out like 6 guys with one missile on that hotel resort level, approaching b and the side of the hotel even collapsed lol :D

dear god Golmud Railway must be one of the least thought about maps ever created, there is nothing in it. Its just a giant field of boredom!

Yup it is the worse map yet! Hopefully servers will remove it soon.........

Paracel + shanghai are my favourites atm.

Graphics are nice n smooth at high/ultra :):D :D
Mouse movement just feels wrong :(
Server crashes :(

^ This, sums up my feelings so far.
As I said in the CPU performance thread, I'm getting a lot of mixed performance with my current setup, while the framerates don't seem too bad it does stutter and just doesn't feel as smooth and responsive as it should.

Wonder if the SSD and Windows 8 has any improvement on "stutter" as I haven't seen any ?

But it blows BF3 out for quality :D

Servers have started rubber-banding since Server R3 was released yesterday.
Crashes are still happening, but Server R4 (ETA Unknown) is meant to focus on fixing them.
Sound bugs happen to clients on some maps, Golmud Railway is particularly bad.

Its running ok on my setup in eyefinity ultra settings no msaa, it is smooth but then suddenly not smooth in mp.

I notice that in eyefinity people don't have markers over their heads in the side screens until you look at them, I think bf3 had that issue on release :(

Getting the crashes here. Quite disappointed the game doesn't seem to have improved fps wise since the final beta build. A mid to high overclocked 7950 just isn't seemingly enough for smooth gameplay at 1080p high settings all round and 2*msaa.

Seriously tempted by a 780 now.
