Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

I keep getting a "disc read error". The disc is in a DVD drive on the network and reads flawlessly. How retarded.

Why's it asking you for the disc
Is this a physical drive in the PC itself?

EDIT: for anyone having random crashes with AMD cards that new POS software installed with the newest beta drivers apparantly has a "use others settings" for the GFX, my mate has clicked this and now his game is apparantly not crashing anywhere near as often. think I'll try that when I get in

anyone playing this on a q6600 running at 3Ghz+ and a ati6950 or something near this spec?

interested in how it plays (I use 1650x1080)

cheers

At that resolution, you will be fine... I said this a while ago, but this is one of the best optimized games I ever played.

With my Q6600 3GHz+ with a 6950 2GB (Overclocked and unlocked to 6970) at 3148x1680 (Eyefinity) I had a FPS increase of 10+ at each graphic setting.

Ultra I had 10+, High I had 20+, Medium I had 30+ and at Low I had 40+

After some testing, I found out that I can set everything to Ultra and leave Lighting to low, Post Process Quality to Medium, the bottom three are set to OFF. With that, I get 40+ FPS at the start of the level.

During gameplay at X or Y spots, the FPS can go to 70 or drop just under 30. Totally playable and very enjoyable.

Been playing Campagin, it's a lot of fun but found some funny bugs. In the Hotel I rushed to some spot and was using a statue for cover and my AI mate rushed to the same spot. He blocked me and later pushed me out of the window, I managed to deploy my Paracute and I could had landed on some beam that was floating but missed.

Second bug I found was climbing the ladder while right behind one of my soldiers which kinda flung me off the ladder about 50m and made him fly/warp around the ship.

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but it feels lazy coding. After climbing the ladder, all the ships, gunfire from them and the aircraft flying overhead, just vainished as we got closer to the doorway to enter the ship again.

I'm guessing that is the game switching the map to inside again, but I felt it was kinda poor.

The game seems crashly at the tank part and the airfield.

Campagin is way to short.

So glad I popped on here after YET ANOTHER crash. I first thought it was my newly crossfired 7950's....may still be but seeing all these crash reports I feel it may not be me

I'm set on buying a 780 or R290 next week - but in meantime I can't believe how well BF4 is running on my heavily OC'd 570 - really smooth @ 1200p with a mix of ultra and high, and 2xAA

nice :)

Got to say, BF3 was an epic nightmare for me but i've played for a good hour or so tonight and not encountered a single issue.

I am very very surprised at that. I'm pretty good at finding out issues. lol

Maybe it just likes Windows 8.1 more?

is BF4 crashing for you while playing?

hey guys,

ive installed and started playing BF4, all up to date etc, but it just keeps crashing my PC.

it first happened while i was playing the campaign, then started happening when playing multiplayer.
is this happening for anyone else?
is a update/patch being released soon to fix this?

the game is basically unplayable for me :(

Any one getting a black screen when tabbing out and it takes ages to tab back in, constantly black screen the get lucky with the game showing. Normally happens when I first start a match too.

Also mid game I get the black loading screen and then;

ERROR
Game disconnected: Client closed down connection.

It's a physical drive in another computer shared over the network.
I haven't had a DVD drive in the PC itself for years since it's rarely needed.

The Origin Installer doesn't even ask where the installation drive path is located. Traditional game installers always prompted for drive locations if there was a read error. Origin is useless.
I'm making images of the discs now to see if the virtual drive will work instead.

Well got in to campaign mode after a bit, and bludgeoned my way through the first four or five acts...

Should be ready to get pwned in multiplayer tomorrow afternoon, after work.
