Sequel[edit source | editbeta]
Three new seasons of 26 episodes each are in production, picking up the storyline where the 1982 series left off. Unlike the original series, this sequel is produced entirely in France; as a co-joint venture between the French television channel TF1, the Belgian channel La Trois, the French animation company Blue Spirit and Jean Chalopin's company Movie-Plus Group.[18] The first of the new seasons sees the series move to China. The design of the characters are more or less the same, although some subtle changes have been made to their physical appearances. Jean Chalopin and Bernard Deyries act as creative consultants on the new series, with Chalopin concentrating particularly on the scripts (which are written by Hadrian Soulez-Lariviere from Chalopin's own draft for the sequel) and Deyries focusing particularly on the graphical aspects. New background music is composed by Noam Kaniel.[19] A 45-minute special, consisting of the first two episodes of the new series, was released on December 9, 2012 on TF1. The series started its regular airing during the first half of 2013. Like the 1982 series, each episode has a summary of the previous episode, a teaser to the next and a small documentary at the end.[20] The voices for the English-language version are currently being recorded in Paris under the direction of voice director, Matthew Géczy.

Just learned of this from a ks thread in pc games section based on MCoG.

WOW never knew there was gona be a series 2 of this and from the trailer it looks pretty faithful to the old art style and the theme tune is quite similar.

Hope the original voice actors are back tho otherwise it might be hard to adjust. Then again they were kids like 9 estaban was when doing vo work at the time. His voice must have changed by now. :( Ah well hope they get similar voices somehow in.

BRING IT, loved this show as a kid. Got the boxset and everything. :)

Not sure of the over use of CGI on the main characters, backgrounds and objects would be fine in CGI but characters really should be traditional drawing. I was also hoping for the kids to be aged a few years and the tone to be a bit more like Korra

I'll give it a chance but I have a feeling I might be a bit old for it now!

sweet

now if they can just finish jayce and the wheeled warriors properly, i'll be a happy man.

Interesting fact (well...maybe not) - The man who composed the music for Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors also composed music for the Mysterious Cities of Gold.

Duno but id say bring it on to that as well and to a jayce and the wheeled warrriors. Man some good shows that cant be beat back in the 80s. Wish they never ended as so much better than living in the 2010s now.

I have a feeling from watching the trailers it will be too kiddie for me. It has to complete with the Avatar/Korra series and this looks like it falls way short. Even the animation looks worse as it relies far to much on CGI

I hate to be so negative about the whole thing but they're going about it completely the wrong way.
